Hi. I'm diemde and I'm a food-a-holic. I love good food, especially pasta. <sigh> And unfortunately I've passed that old WOE to my 17 yr old daughter. So, we are both relearning a new WOE and both need to join this unique club. I don't know if I'll ever get her to join the boards, but I've been copying things and sending it to her in email. She's finally seeing my success and lowering her carbs.

I'm not doing low carb right now, but just doing "lower carb". My daily goal is no more than 100 carbs and 2000 calories. I'm reading DANDR and may decide to try going low carb later, when/if this plan stalls. My DD probably won't go low carb because she just can't bring herself to eat that much meat and lc veggies. It's been a real struggle to get her carbs down to a reasonable amount, so her daily goal is 150 carbs and 2000 calories. Before she started this, we tracked her carbs and they were well over 300 a day. I would love to hear from any other TDC teenagers who might have some suggestions for her.

I do use fitday.com and it's been a real help. My average is less than 100 carbs per day, so I'm about where I want to be for now. Long term, I'll need to get down to an average of 65 or so per day.

One mini goal I have is to be able to fit my hiney in those small cheap plastic patio chairs people have. Even my mom has them on her patio and she's never noticed that I have to sit on the edge of them when I visit her.

I look forward to getting to know all of you and reading about your success!

Hi diemde,

I'm new here too and just wanted to say and hi! And congratulations on your success so far!

I also had to comment that I hate those darn plastic patio chairs! I also have a hard time fitting my hiney into them and recently had the biggest embarresment at a barbaque when I stood up, the dang chair stuck to my butt and came with me! Ahhhhh! I wanted to just disapear into the ground! Ahhh, I can't wait until I can fit into one of those chairs too and it doesn't have to stay with me when I stand!

Best of luck! You'll find everyone here is ultra-wonderful!

Hello Diemde and welcome!!

You have done so well - congrats!! I wish my teenage son would cut his carbs too, he is a bread and pasta lovers as well. I just try and set a good example for him and encourage him to eat like I do.

I hate those darn chairs too. I can almost get bruises on my hips from them LOL. I have nice wide chairs on my patio

Mary

Thanks everyone. I decided to take a leap of faith today and cut my daily carb count down to 70. I've been reading so many success stories here with lower carb counts! I'm not quite mentally ready to go down to 20, though, LOL. I'm going to have a go at 70 and see if it works a bit better for me.

Thanks again!

me and my mom are LC'ing and it was kinda hard at first for me cause i was pretty much a vegitarian before we started. I don't like soy products and i have never gotten around to tofu. talk about a shock all that protien i actully had to add it in slowly (i still don't eat red meat)
i know that don't really help much with your daughter, but maybe as she sees you sliming down she will want to give it a try, it is well worth it

I wouldn't say anything to your daughter. She must decide when to do it for herself and if she goes for it . Help her to the hilt. I 'm doing this WOE with my mom. I started first and she started just to give me support. Though she needs to lose weight as well. Though not nearly as much as me. She is ten times better at it, has horrible dietary restrctions which eliminates too many foods. But she only has had one cheat in the last six months. I am no angel.
We don't live together so, the only thing she can do is give me tons of support (which I love her for) When I'm around her I eat what she eats. There are no varying types of food in the house At mine other than one loaf of bread and one box of pasta for my husband everything else is lowcarb friendly .
I would simply eliminate most of the tempts in the house, besides it won't eventually do much for your motivation to have them there. My husband has to have his potato chips and cookies away from the house. He does it cause he's supporting me in this.
Hope I didn't sound preachy. Anyway welcome to the site and good luck.
