Unhappy Help...need advice about Atkins!

Years ago treated for Graves (Hyperthyroid). Now long suffering and 80 pounds overweight Hypothroid...been trying to regulate my levoxyl for three years now...after making very slow progress, I was at the right dosage, encouraged by this I thought...now I can try to lose all the extra weight!!!
I've been on Atkins for only two weeks I'm getting worried that some of my HYPER symptoms are returning!!
Anyone have advice about specifically what I can have/ not have on this diet?
Like, say coffee? green tea? Should I have not have dairy/ soy? Everything I read says something different...it's getting very confusing, but I don't want to give up........help?

Hi-

I am really new here, just joined yesterday. I was diagnosed hyperthyroid in November. I began Atkins in the July prior.

I don't have a lot of info but I was told to avoid soy, it interferes with thyroid function. So many of the low carb products have alot of soy. I have not eliminated soy from my diet, but watch how much I eat in a day.

HTH

I asked my doctor about this and he didn't seem all that concerned. He just said we would watch my thryoid levels closely and they seemed to be fine. He mentioned that there are conflicing studies out there and he wasn't convinced.
