Default Question - thyroid- seasonal changes

hello.

I just wanted to ask questions of people suffering with thyroid problems. For the last two winters, I've had every symptom of hypothyroid, with this winter being worse than last. My hair falls out, my skin looks worse than my 84 y old mother, i have sleep issues, I have horrific swelling around my eyes, I'm freezing all the time...etc ec

When I get tested (yes, everything as you're supposed to), nothing shows up.

And whatever this is, it dissapates as the spring comes in...not completely, but enough to be livable.

Any suggestions? Anyone heard of something else that may be mimicking thyroid, but isn't, and is something to do with winter? Or can somehting happen to your thyroid in winter that doesn't show up on tests?

Thanks, everyone!

I know of some people who increase their thryoid meds in the winter so there may indeed be something. not sure what though.

when you had your FT3 and FT4 tested were they at or near the top of the range and mid range respectively?
if not then while you may be normal you aren't optimized and optimal is what you shoot for with thyroid.

RT3 is another thing that can mess you up. RT3 binds to thyroid receptors and keeps your available FT3 from getting used. Dunno about it being seasonal.

Are your D3 levels good? That is seasonal.

Default Hi...

Yes, everything looks good on paper. I've been using Vit D for a few seasons now, altho I will say it's not up to what it was/is in the summer.

I"d not heard of this RT3 issue.
