Ask your local butcher to do you some nitrate free bacon, a good one should oblige - this works for carb-free sausages as well!

I don't understand. Only 10% of the bacon in the UK has nitrates/ites, but when I've checked in the supermarket EVERY pack of bacon has nitrates or nitrites. I have been going ahead and eating it occasionally, but how come I seem to be landed with the 10%? Where is the 90% sold to? Presumably not supermarkets . Could anyone give any brand names to save me unsuccessfully searching through all the packets? Thanks!

Just spent 3 hours shopping in Sainsbury's. Boy! this label reading is a chore!
Unfortunately every single pack there also contained some type of Nitrate.

Perhaps thats the answer bacon contains either sodium nitrite, potassium nitrate etc and 1% has none

used to take me 1/2 an hour to shop.now it takes ages.and don,t tell anybody but i have to take my glasses with me!
