Do what you want. I was just trying to say that Atkins works because you eat less calories than your maintenance. If you need to consume 3000 calories a day to maintain your current weight, and you only ate 2500 of chocolate, you would still lose weight.

And to the guy who said vegetarians brains are smaller... What about Asian people, they eat hardly any protein and they are smarter than Americans for sure. Also I think you are getting mixed up with Homo Sapien Neanderthalis who had a larger cranial capacity than modern humans. The reason for this enlargement in the occipital lobe which is mainly associated with sight, is thought to be that they developed better vision for hunting etc. Also Neanderthals evolved seperately from Homo Sapien Sapiens and actually lived along side us until they died out as little as 30,000 years ago.

I said "Sorry Christians" because Christians do not believe that we evolved from anything, and that we were just put here around 6000 years by god which goes against the fossil record and would also suggest that we are all related as decendants of Adam and Eve which would have meant that Kane or Able would have impregnated their mother to continue the species... but they can believe whatever they want to believe. I personally cant imaging why anyone would want to worship a god that kills hundred of thousands of people with hurricanes, tsunamis and earthquakes... Anyway, god is an imaginary friend for adults. But thats for another forum

I love stirring people up

I am so glad for you! Grats on the weight loss.

Its so nice to find people with diets that work for them. I am so pleased with South Beach, and eventually once the weight is gone I just cant wait for my first tuna sammich haha. If dieting is a chore, then I dont think that diet is for you. SO grats on the new one!

I lost weight on Atkins by consuming on average 4000 calories a day with no exercise, so I dont necessarily buy the low calorie theory, I think its more to do with insulin.

We're all different and I wish I was like you and could eat carbs and sugar in moderation (hey, I'll bet you're one of those people who can open a bar of chocolate and eat two squares and put the rest away LOL), but I cant, I have an addiction problem and cant do moderation - one mouthful and my cravings and auto pilot kick in and I'll eat til I'm sick. I'm the same with cigarettes (maybe I'll try to give them up as well one day!??), and thank goodness I dont drink alcohol!!!!

I eat MORE on low carb and lose weight (or inches) than I did eating fewer calories and being a vegetarian.

And I have lost 40 lbs.

So, vegetarian high carb low calories = weight gain and high blood pressure...
Low carb, more calories = weight loss, inch loss and low blood pressure

No....it is extra high carb troll food

You don't WANT the trolls to be heathy! Of course, it says WHOLE GRAIN WITH EXTRA SOY on the label and that seems to attract them.

I only saw the title of this thread. I was laughing, because when I'm on lowcarb I have a terrible time keeping my calories high enough even when I feel like I'm eating too much. Unless one insists on subsisting on bacon cheese/ oils mayo, it's not that easy to be high calorie on lowcarb. I can eat tons more calories on LC and lose than I can on HC and gain, alas.

Oh, having scrolled and read a little more on this page, I see now, that someone has been feeding the trolls again.

Well now, there's a blanket statement that is patently false.

Developed nations of Asia consume an average of 2800-calories a day....of that 93g a day is protein, and of the total protein consumed 53g is animal source protein (56% of protein is animal protein)

For example, in Japan - they average 2768-calories a day....of that 92g is protein, and of the total 52g is animal source protein (56.5% of the protein is animal protein).

That isn't exactly "hardly any protein".....

"But just then up came the big Billy Goat Gruff .

Trip, trap, trip, trap, trip, trap! went the bridge, for the billy goat was so heavy that the bridge creaked and groaned under him.

"Who's that tramping over my bridge?" roared the troll.

"It's I! The big Billy Goat Gruff ," said the billy goat, who had an ugly hoarse voice of his own.

"Now I 'm coming to gobble you up," roared the troll.

Well, come along! I've got two spears,
And I'll poke your eyeballs out at your ears;
I've got besides two curling-stones,
And I'll crush you to bits, body and bones.

That was what the big billy goat said. And then he flew at the troll, and poked his eyes out with his horns, and crushed him to bits, body and bones, and tossed him out into the cascade, and after that he went up to the hillside....."

I'll stop here since the billy goats haven't discovered lc yet.
