Default ZoneCoach: Exercise/Eating Question

I have recently switched over from Atkins to the Zone, and I have a quick question. While doing Atkins, there wasn't any rule that stated that you were supposed to eat before you worked out, but with the Zone, you are supposed to eat about 30 minutes before you work out. My problem is, I regularly get up at 4:30am to work out, so I don't eat until I get home from the gym. I am not feeling tired, and am pretty sure that all of my meals are balanced correctly, so if I continue to workout without eating before hand, am I completely messing up the point of the Zone and unbalancing my insulin levels for the day, or will I be okay? Sorry this was so long! Thanks!

That is standard Zone advice. It is intended to stabilize your blood sugar and get your metabolism going after the 6-8 hour fast (sleep).

Well, it's not the best practice, but, if your remaining meals are balanced, you should be okay.

BTW, the Zone does not need to be followed 100% 100% of the time to be successful. Everyone's body reacts differently.

Thank you for your quick response! So far so good as far as the energy levels go, (I am waiting out the scale for a couple weeks to see what the weight change will be) and I am finding that I have absolutely no cravings for sugar now that I have some fruit back in my WOE. I think I have finally found a WOL that works for me, and I am fully stoked about that! Have a great day!
