Default one potato, two potato

I have two potato questions.

1. Does anyone know the carb/fiber/protein count for little red skinned potatoes (aka new potatoes)? I can't find them on Fitday. I cook them with the skins left on.

2. Can someone explain the difference in effect on blood sugar between a sweet potato and a white potato. Apparently, sweet potatoes have more carbs, but a slower or lesser impact on blood sugar?

Thanks!!

Good questions! Dont really know the answers but guess the second answer has something to do with the glycaemic index of the to things.

Now I have one of my own..did anyone see the iron chef program where potato was the special ingredient and they said that "go for the tail of the potato as it is tastier"......what?? I never knew potatoes being round had heads or tails, but I'm intrigued if anyone noticed this (albeit pre LC days, cos I just dont eat 'em anymore )?

Sweet potatoes contain alot more nutrients. They may also have more fiber, not sure there. Read the Atkins web site about the glycemic index and the importance. Also find an article on glycemic load which is a much more accurate way of looking at foods. It counts both total carbs and GI.
