Default Going to try TSP...questions on soy/thyroid

I just finished reading TSP and heard about it from another thyroid forum, a success story, so I quickly ordered it from Amazon. It made for very interesting reading. It sounds so similar to the "fad protein" diets out there, for example...like Sugar Busters. I do want to try it...I have already figured out I don't eat nearly enough veggies!!!

Question: TSP recommends eating soy...however, I currently have (for at least 12 yrs) hypothyroidism, and this is a real no-no...anyone experience this? Studies are now showing too much soy can cause hypothyroidism! I know this to be true...I get hot flashes or "heat up" when I take any supplement or food with soy or iodine or selenium. Anyone else experience this?

Also, TSP recommends NOT taking Armour Thyroid...does anyone know what thryoid med is recommended? I switched to Unithroid today upon reading this, and I had just switched to Armour because the thyroid forum had many readers with great results. However, I noticed increased hair loss.., etc.

Needing motivation here in Ohio....I really want to give this a try...is the cookbook good? Thanks!!!

Default Welcome, Operagirl

I don't know anything about thyroid, but TSP is very easy to follow and you don't have to eat soy. I hardly ever do. It's really only important if you want to follow the program as a vegetarian.

The cookbook is wonderful. I haven't found a recipe yet that I didn't like.
