Wink So I just did it, cold turkey!

The day after Thanksgiving I think I had just about had enough. I had planned on quitting prior. I just couldnt bear to walk out in the cold snow to smoke one more time. I was through.

As of November 25th I have become a non smoker. Its the most amazing thing I think I have ever done for myself.

So far I have quit for 1 month, 12 days, 14 hours and 31 minutes. I havent smoked 1090 cigarrettes and I have saved a total of $191.12.

I have never known an addiction as strong as nicotine. Now Im on my way to busting another addiction to high sugar foods. After nicotine I feel like I can do anything. And I mean anything.

Congrats on your quit, Alan! As much as the Nicorette people would like us to believe otherwise, 93% of all successful quitters got to be successful quitters by going cold turkey.
Nicotine is a strong addiction but it can be kicked; it's as simple as never taking another puff, dip or chew. Good luck building on that success!

Yeah... I've gone pretty much into a state of acceptance about my quit. During the first two weeks there were times the cravings were so bad I had to lay on my bed and just breath deeply. It was almost painful.

I choose to quit smoking because a co worker of mine quit by buying the nicitrol inhaler. I told her that I diddnt want to spend the money on that and she said it really helped her. 44 days later Im completely nicotine free and guess what she's still doing?

Puffing on that dang inhaler. LOL!!!!

Cold Turkey is the ONLY way to go to quit smoking. period.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's the only way to quit, but I do believe it's probably the easiest (relatively speaking, peeps, we all know how hard it is to quit ), studies have shown it's the most successful and it's certainly the least expensive way to quit. But when it comes down to it, any quit is a good quit no matter how you achieved it and I have a lot of respect for those folks who successfully kicked their nicotine habit using replacements because it's the more difficult route to take.
OTOH, I have three co-workers who have quit succesfully using the new laser accupuncture treatment; it's expensive; around $300.00 in my area and not covered by medical insurance, but it seems to be quite effective.
No matter which method is choosen, though, a quitter will have to go through nicotine withdrawal at some point; it's either that or stay addicted to nicotine through the replacements forever and keep paying the big $$ for your nicotine like your co-worker who is still puffing on that inhaler.
