Default I'm Ready but Not Really...

Help! I need encouragement and support (is there a support thread here?)!

I know I need to stop smoking again. I've done it many times (easily) but this time is a challenge. Once I quit at the same time DH and I started Atkins. Quitting carbs for the first time made quitting smoking easy.

Not this time.

I want to make my current pack my last but-good Lord, I'll probably bite heads off!!! (unsuppressable crankiness)

Michelle

Michelle, i found that eating something i really dont like then having a smoke and then eating it again after having the smoke is a good way to quit, you dont want to have a smoke cause you dont want to eat what you dont like, and just think about why you do smoke rather than why you shouldnt, your reasons may surprise you.

Hi lc

I did it! I haven't smoked for two or three weeks now!

I just got to where I hated smoking, so I refused to buy another pack. Don't really even miss em.

How are you doing today? Congratulations on not smoking for four days (hope it's seven now).

This site really helps a lot of people get quit and stay quit. I smokedd for 40 years and never thought I would be able to quit, but I did and have been happily quit for 107days. They even track how much money you are saving, how many cigs you haven't smoked, and how much life you have saved. It is peer support and the people are wonderful. http://forums.quitnet.com

I am Mirit over there. I usually post on the Other Addictions Forum because I have been sober in AA 19 years and I also feel food is one of my addictions. I will warn you that the Weight forum has a bunch of WW people who lose and regain, lose and regain. Somebody wrote that she loved WW and had joined it five times. I felt like posting that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results. However, I decided to sit on the hands; why start a war?

There are also specialty clubs, like 12 Steppers, Diabetic Quitters...and it is great. Their main forum, the Quitstop, is always busy and where you go when you feel you are really going to cave in.

it's been a week today since I said, "this is my last smoke"....and so far it's been true!! I think I'm more worried about my weight and lifting than I am about not smoking so...it seems easy to me. I hope it comes as easily to you all...good luck (to me as well to stay off it)
