Default Doing Insanity But I'm Pooped!

Hello All,

I need some help tweeking my eating since doing Insanity is leaving me pooped. I'm currently consuming moderate protein, about 60-70 grams, high fat 80-100 grams, and carbs around 50 grams.

I know I need to change my eating habits to support sustained energy during and after the workout, but need a little direction.

Thanks!!

Are you measuring so you know if you're losing fat or muscle or both? If you are doing Insanity on low carbs and low cal you might be losing muscle as well as fat.

That program is intense, therefore glucose demanding, so personally I would add more fat and protein. Right now your body might be ever so slightly breaking down your stored muscle to meet the demand, because your daily protein is only enough to cover replacement, not to provide extra gluconeogenesis. And your fat is low for that amount of exercise energy believe it or not.

Thanks Seejay. I added a whey protein shake immediately after my workout this am. I was very shaky and nauseous afterward. I ate bacon, eggs, and half slice of toast 1 hour after that and felt more normal. I will do research to get the proper amounts of protein and fat, while holding carbs steady.

Shaky and nauseous before or after the shake? Sounds like rapidly dropping blood sugar, that's how I felt sometimes. If you've worked out and depleted your glycogen, there's no glucose available.

Is your program daily intense exercise? If you deplete all your glycogen every day, it's hard to keep up just from extra protein and fat. Mark Sisson writes that when people do intense exercise every 2d or 3d day there's time to replenish glycogen in between. If your exercise gets ahead of your body's ability to come up with glycogen/glucose, you'll feel pooped, shaky and nauseous pretty darn regularly.

Shaky and nauseous after Insanity before the shake. I've been researching and carb cycling maybe the way to go with this workout.

Did you complete Insanity? How did you like the carb cycling?

I'm an Insanity grad, and I have found that doing a TKD (carbs daily, but only post workout) or carb cycling were required for me to be able to get through those workouts ... ESPECIALLY month 2!

I'm in month two and carb cycling "my way" was a life saver. I tried the traditional carb up over the weekend, but was unable to complete the work outs by Wednesday. So instead of carb loading over the weekend, I would I increase carbs every 3rd day from about 20 grams to 75 grams of high quality carbs.

I'm able to complete the workouts daily and my body shape is definitely changing in just a month. I have only lost 5 lbs but the body fat scale has moved from 42% to 35%. It's really amazing and encouraging!

7% is HUGE!!!! Good for you, and amazing progress. I'm thinking if you can finish this you can accomplish just about anything.

You said you were in month 2....how many months is it? Just curious...how much longer you have to wait for your t-shirt LOL...
