Albumin in urine, according to several internet sources and my doctor,is a sign of impaired kidney function. If you are concerned
about neuropathy, alpha lipoic acid and acetyl l carnitine are
good supplements to keep that in check.
Keep us posted-best wishes

You should not be afraid of insulin.
I'm trying very hard to convince my doctor to put me on insulin because I think it's maybe the most effective way to control blood sugars when done correctly (as stated by Dr. Bernstein).
At the beginning my worst fear was also insulin, but by researching and reading some advise from this forum I have changed my mind.

This thread is almost 6 years old. I think someone needs to start a new diabetic thread.

Luzamar, you can put yourself on insulin if you wish. R and N and sold OTC in the US and in Canada, all insulin is OTC.

Yeah, the thread is only 6 years old.../sigh.

As Susan said earlier though, it is hard to get much more natural than insulin. The only thing I take, essentially, for BG control is Lantus twice a day and the injections hurt much less than taking my BG. They hurt MUCH LESS than the way Susan takes her BG.

I should mention I am still on a very low carb diet until I get closer to my weight goal... that makes it real easy to "normalize" BG.

The knife wound drew enough blood to provide a lab for a full blood workup.

It healed quickly and quite nicely. I used liquid stitches.

I am gonna go out on a limb and assume that is not a recommendation in lieu of lancets...

If all else fails to draw blood, that is an alternative method...

There was a time before lancet devices and you had to use the giant hospital lances - and boy did that hurt!

If nothing else - this has been the best laugh of the day for me... even if it started 6 years ago.

A very good thread anyway.

I am taking a diuretic to offset the fluid that builds up in my legs.

This comes from my BP meds Norvasc, which has as a side effect fluid build up in the legs.

Then I see that the diuretic (furoesimide I know mispelled) can reduce your energy, which it does.

I am thinking of consulting with Doc and trying a different BP med.

I cannot tolerate Toprol either, that was simply awful and it prevents me from being able to have my allergy injections.

So, a good thread even if it is 6 years old.

Also, read about that acid that might create swelling. I am eating 2-3 eggs daily now. I wonder if that is having an effect.

Hmmmm

Ralph
