I was all ready to join in this thread and then for a split second I forgot how old I am. LOL Remembered. I'm 70, at least for the next 12 days.

I follow semi low carb. I don't eat sweets, but I really don't want to give up my veggies. If that keeps me from losing, so be it. I like my veggies. I don't feel that I got fat from eating too much broccoli, so why should it keep me from losing?

Thanks for the welcome! This is my third round on LC and my 3rd week on this round so well aware of pros and cons. I was extremely fatigued during first two weeks, but am pulling out of it now. Working on getting more energy by using treadmill and resistance bands, etc while trapped inside my home. I hope to get my weight loss stall moving in a forward direction rather than the frustrating yo-yo I've been on for a bit over a year now. Need some encouragement and a bit of finesse from time to time.

Hi everybody. Don't know if this is the right place for this post or not.

I'm 64, almost 65.

I posted this, this morning:

It's more at the top of my thighs, in back, but so intense it causes my gait to buckle. I thought it was related to my back injury of '11 and keep thinking I need to make an appointment with the neurologist again.

Well...maybe not! The last 3 days I have done hamstring and piriformis stretches as soon as I wake up, and before my morning walks. Result: no, or little, pain for the last 3 days!

Forgot to do them this morning (very little pain when I awoke) and about 50 steps into my walk OWWW OWWW OWWW! Sharp pains that caused my gait to buckle again.

I stopped right there on the sidewalk and did the stretches - the rest of my walk was PAIN FREE.

*feeling encouraged and inspired*

Then, tonight:
I've noticed the last several weeks that my footsteps have sometimes been harder-falling, and sometimes I kind of scuff the ground when I walk. Well I did it today exiting a grocery store (scuffed the bumpy strip bordering the asphalt) and felt those shocking pains at the tops of my thighs (in back). Anyone else experience this?

My old back injury? Sensitive piriformis? Or just 'getting old' stuff?

Hi Gonwtwindo. I used to post here but graduated to the 70's post. LOL

I have my own problems with walking, but never the ones you are experiencing. I never even heard of piriformis and had to google to understand what you were talking about. I don't think this is normal aging. You might have to go back to the neurologist or maybe physical therapy would help with this. In the meantime, keep up with those stretches that seem to be helping.

Maybe someone else will chime in who has experienced this.

Thanks Carol. I've been googling physical therapy videos - busy day today so will probably pick it back up tonight.

Yes for the next 4 years, LOL. Hi all just decided to pop in and see if my thread survived. Glad to see that it has, my eating plan is going well, I just have maybe 15 pounds to lose, not bad. It sure is taking a long time though. Everyone have a great day

Hi, Judy. I, too, have noticed that getting weight off is much slower as I get older.

Hope you are doing well.

Hi SilverEm, I'm doing ok, it sure is hot today though and the air conditioning doesn't seem to help. It's true the closer you get to goal the slower it comes off.

Hi, I turned 63 this summer. Next year I retire (women retire at 64 here in Switzerland) so I'm looking forward to that.

I lost 17 kg after starting LC five or six years ago and just this last year or so I have put about five of them back. I'm now struggling hard to take them off again but determined not to give up.

My biggest problem now is exercise. I'm not getting enough. My husband had a hip op. early this year and so we've stopped playing tennis on Sunday mornings. He has the all clear to start again now so we plan to start from our return from holidays in August. I started walking 20 - 30 minutes after dinner and that has made me sleep better at least.

I look forward to sharing experiences with the people on this thread.

Welcome Lulumae, I hear ya on the exercise. I just had right hip surgery and am working with PT. Am doing pretty well, will be getting my left hip done in the next few weeks. So exercise is a little hard right now.

Hi Judy,
I hope your ops are a total success. It's amazing the difference they make. My husband has got a new lease of life.

I'm looking forward to just getting them done and out of the way. It'll be nice to be able to walk my dogs
