Cool

Hi all!

Just thought I would let any Montrealers out there that I found some Low Carb bars at Alexis Nihon Plaza near the old Montreal Forum. The store(I can't remember the name of it) is on the bottom floor. There are 2 health food stores on that floor so check both. They had Designer Gourmet Bars in Peanut Butter Choc. and Choc. Choc. which have 4 grams of carbs each (of which maltitol is 2.3 grams which you can subtract). There were also Protein Diet Bars in Toasted Coconut , Honey Nougat, and Banana flavours (2.5 to 4 grams carbs each).

If anyone knows of any other places in Montreal to get low carb stuff please let me know.

Default bars

I found those same bars in a Shopper's Drug Mart on Yonge Street near Carlton in Toronto a couple of weeks ago.

I wasn't that fond of them, but the Coconut was my favourite. Because they were cheap we bought one of each flavour to try.

I think they were 2.29 each.

sharon, what is the brand name of the coconut bar that you liked? my youngest daughter works at shoppers, so i get everything at cost. i had a cavalier dark chocolate bar last week that i bought at shoppers in the diabetic section. 6 carbs for the whole bar. it was worth it. pure chocolate satisfaction!

I think the Cavalier bars are 6g / SERVING, not the whole bar. At least I think that's what it is for the small bars, the larger flat bars may be different. However most of it is maltitol which some people (myself inclulded) subtract all or part of from the carb count.

Cool subtracting maltitol?

Please please tell me why (in short) you can subtract maltitol grams?

Thanks.

Sorry, for the tardy response...the bars we found are called "Complete Protein Diet Bars.

They say, 22 gram Protein, 1.5 carbs per servicing, one serving 50 grams. The only one I have left is Peanut Butter, so I'm not sure now if the protein and carb counts were the same on all flavours.

I would say they are similar to an Atkin's Bar, but less money.

Thanks Melsybop, I'll add that to our shop listings for Montreal. Seems they're doing better than us here in Vancouver!
