Default What is CAD?

I am curious about what exactly CAD is, and how to do it? My finances are tight, and I don't want to spend any more money on a book until I know more. CAD sounds pretty good to me. Tell me if this is correct.

You eat no carbs for breakfast and lunch, but you can eat whatever you want for dinner, and you eat no more than four times a day? Is there a food list to go by?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Meow,

One thing about CAD is it is not Atkins during the day with a Reward Meal in the evening. You really need to get a book. Try to go to your library and check one out if you can't afford to buy one. There are a lot of veggies that you can eat on Atkins, that you can't eat on CAD during your 2 LC meals, and these are listed in the book. Another thing, the Reward Meal that you think is a free for all, is not. It is suppose to be balanced and you should start off with a nice salad and than you eat 1/3 protein, 1/3 legal veggies and 1/3 carb. The carb is your choice. If you want something sweet like a piece of cake or a piece of pie etc. you can, or if you choose to have healthier carbs, that is good also. The choice is completely yours to make.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions we will try to answer them for you. You really need the book to help you understand the plan better.

Hey meow, I think you'll really love CAD. It is not like a diet, but a different way of eating. I find that if I don't balance my RM, I'll maintain, not gain. Pretty neat, huh? Of course, we are all different, and what works for one, may not work for another. Still, I think you should give it a shot. There's nothing to lose, except weight that is. Good luck on CAD. And by the way, if I balance my RM's, I will lose weight.

Hi - have a look on amazon - they have them for anything from 50c to 12 dollars. I live in a New Zealand and it was still cheaper for me to buy of Amazon and get it sent here , than to buy straight from the book shop.

I'm sure you'll find an affordable option cos it really does pay to read the book. - it definately is NOT atkins with a reward meal.

all the best

I found a copy at Half Price Books. I'm reading it right now. It seems OK, but I'll probably stick with Atkins until I get my cravings under control.

Hey Meghan, it sounds too good to be true, but if I eat 1 or 2 cm during the day, and then overdo it on the RM, I will maintain. Let me give you an example, although it will look like I'm a complete pig, but I just love to eat.
Breakfast is usually just coffee with non dairy creamer and 2 sweet n low.
Lunch is usually tuna w/ mayo, or a hard boiled egg, or 2 baked chicken legs, or sometimes I skip it.
Dinner is, here goes:
Hotdogs, 2 w/ cheese
chips
nutty buddy bar by little debbie
coke
or:
Lasagne, big portion
salad, large w/ ranch
pork rinds w/ cheese dip
green beans
or:
Captain D's seafood platter which contains 2 pieces of fish, 2 crab cakes, fries, slaw, and 5 shrimp. Coke and a doughnut or nutty buddy bar.
This is true. This is what I eat everyday for RM, just to give you an example. I know I shouldn't be eating this much, but I can't control my self. I maintain my weight, though. Sometimes I do balance and have 1/3 protein, 1/3 veggies, and 1/3 carb w/ a large salad and diet pepsi to drink, but only sometimes, like once or twice a week. Thanks for reading this. Bye, Amy

eek, only coffee for breakfast? That doesn't sound too filling.....or healthy. And on the days you skip lunch, how does your body find the energy to function all day until dinner? I'd soooo get hungry....

I think as long as you get your nutrients within 24 hrs, it does not matter when you get them. Also, people say that you need to eat 5 or 6 mini meals a day to boost metabolism. I don't think that is true, at least not fir me. If I eat like that, I will gain weight, because the more I eat, the more I will want to eat. I say do what works for you.

If I ate 5 or 6 mini meals I would be be so hungry b/c of all that insulin released every time I took a bite of something. I can't do it. CAD really controls cravings, it works perfectly for me

Amy- I usually have big RMs too. They keep me full for a very long time and I am so satisfied!!

I think the great thing about CAD is, if you aren't hungry for you CM's, you don't need to eat. Why eat if you are not hungry. Of course the Heller's don't want you to skip your RM, but you can skip one or both of your CM's if you want.

Your doing good. Keep up the good work.

I personally cant eat veggies because they make me feel bad about myself and they leave a bad taste in my mouth. I try to have 60 grams on protein durning my RM to make up for the veggies...

P.S. Thus is why I have Mod-CAD as my plan...
