Default Ketosis.... a question...

I've got bad breath, yeah. Does that mean that I'm in ketosis, or that I've just got bad breath?

I do not have the extra money to spend on ketosis strips... but any insite would be way helpful!

Could be either. It's probably ketosis. The best thing to do is drink plenty of water to help flush those ketones out.

You don't need ketostix as an indicator of fat burning. Your breath and the funny taste in your mouth is the best thing to go by. Ketostix will also register dietary fat intake so they're not the most reliable thing to go by.

I didn't know what one was until after I low-carbed for about a year.

I have never used ketostix nor did I concern myself with ketosis. I do notice ocasional symptoms such as the metallic taste, unusual urine odors. But I was never interested if I were in ketosis or not.

I am in my 4th day and I have had that funny taste in my mouth too. I have been trying to drink lots of water.

Do you have suggestions for breath mints? I usually use Altoids...

Altoids are sweetened with sugar. You might want to find gum or mints that are artificially sweetened, or use those little power strip thingies that melt on the tongue.
