Speaking up is not complaining.

Reporting is not complaining.

Pointing out abuse is not complaining.

This is the kind of complaining I'm talking about:

https://bswa.org/teaching/no-complaints-by-ajahn-brahm/

The kind that causes unnecessary suffering, the one that comes from a sense of self. There is no self. Anatta.

No problem. No need to comment further. We're getting far a field from logging "Funhogging" - the purpose of this section (edit) or you can PM me if you have further comments.

You are probably one of the few people to be excited about “gaining” 10 pounds in a day. Probably inflammation for all the hits you took. Still I would’ve been curious to see the difference in weight after you peed & pooped. How’d you feel after the weekend- good kind of sore or the bad kind? I am currently feeling the good kind after 3 intense workout days in a row.

I was pretty fascinated watching that vid. Mostly by the amount of balance and concentration it seemed to take to stay on. Coolio.

Mixed bag of actvites since I last posted. Most notable was a long and fast swim to retrive my kite that was blowing away from me downwind. I was making steady progress to the kite but suddenly another kiter was able to slow the kites progress down wind even further. I caught up to the bar and did a makeshift repair in the water. I was thinking I could keep going but my 'spidy sense told me to head in and not push my luck and insult the person that helped recover the loose kite.

Skated, Fished from paddleboard and also got the windsurfoil out again yesterday in some really juicy conditions. Weight up on account of that beating!

New tar to skateboard on - gotta get up real early on Sunday to have less competition with cars for prime surface

Snap from video that I sent my brother of little bass I let go

Failed kite harness and on the water repair. ~130 sessions. I'll check lines more often

Picture of friend foiling yesterday I gook from my windsurfoil board on the water

Since we last left the island, weights and measures:

Another month of data recorded - approaching 3 years. I think I'll finish up my stay here after this "#gymLog #exerciseJournal #activityRecoder" reaches 365 days. That the plan now anyway as I'll have completed the circuit, dotted the i's and crossed the T's - Might be interesting for someone else looking at this from the beginning - and hopefully helpful. It's not meant to be inspirational, these are just the facts as I see them that I've recorded along the way. Here's the best illustration - and I plan on continuing this after Nov. 12 of this year.

I've appended August data to the end of this living document: http://downhaul.com/lowcarb/daily.txt

Some Random Pictures since last time - Most interesting thing was catching a large muskie from paddle board. It was interesting trying to unhook it as we were looking each strait in the eyes. I don't want to catch any more large muskies, too majestic and quite capable of causing both of us injury.

Short video of fighting muskie ...

http://downhaul.com/lowcarb/2018misc/muskieTrim-web.mp4

Stuff I ate at cabin for breakfast, lunch and dinner...

Got a day and drove "down" to meet friends and kited...

Another Video from John (I'm in green helmet):

Fishing at sunset with my brothers...

Here's the data since I last posted here, Vacationed 8/29 - 9/5 super fun, no Quest Bars - weight stable, ate like crazy and also funhogged like crazy.

Awesome catch. I agree, a majestic fish.

That vid of the kiting. Wow that's some fun! All those tricks! Jumping over waves! Woo hoo!

Watched the "No complaints" vid - nice lecture, thank you. I don't agree with him on everything, particularly remarks re karma, but found it enlightening.

Watched some of the "practice what you don't know" vid, too. Makes sense to do that, but I also find that, at least for dance, you can always work on/refine/retain technique/chops by doing the basics. Can't say for guitar, it's been a long time since I picked one up.

Enjoy reading your exploits here, would be sorry to see you go. Stay chill.

Nice catch. I suspect the teeth on the Muskie made it a bit difficult as well.

As always enjoyed watching your vid. I know you said it’s not meant to be inspiring - just you doing you - but it is. One of the best side effects of this WOE is the ability to do the things we love doing. I was thinking about that I was hiking the uphill section to Lookout Mountain this weekend and having little difficulty (I even took the backpack from the Hubs).

I will be sad when you conclude this journal. Hope you will drop a photo or vid in my journal once in awhile.

Thud - your weight loss journey and active lifestyle is inspirational to those of us on the way. Congratulations on achieving 43% towards your goal of zero! Keep up the good work. As a friendl said to me, the goal is not to stay healthy enough to live until a ripe old age, but to stay young until a ripe old age.

Thanks for the visits ImOnMyWay, Renee, Meme and Peter! Continuing the think about how to exit site, to tie things up nicely with a bow, a package for the next person that might come along and, "wanna loose weight" - turns out it's not at all about losing weight. It's about changing what and when you eat and developing some basic habits. Everything else happens by itself, "I" have little, if anything, to do with the result.

Be happy with where you are at RIGHT NOW. It's good enough. Thru that happiness you may find the compassion to tend to your bloated body and be kind to it by not abusing it with food, that you didn't really know before, sucked for it's well being. The only time you can care for this body is... right this second, and mostly what is needed is to do NOTHING. Leave it alone. Stop trying to make it bend to your "will". Bend you will to fit your body, the way it is today. Be kind to it, stop the bullying

Thanks for this visits Pi, Meme, Renee and Peter! I've decided to open up a new journal to do a quarterly check-in at over here to continue the story and have also set it to send me an email if someone posts there and that will get me to answer a questions or whatever between the quarterly posts. I plan on continuing to avoid grains, potatoes and sugar in the foreseeable future, which is not that predicable ha!

New journal will be here: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?p=9299242

Hand is healing OK, certainly enought to use almost every day kiteboarding but still swollen and limited mobility/flexibility - time is the cure and it's working. Will be 2 weeks tomorrow since injury and I figure a month to 6 weeks for full recovery. Probably never the same but then again, nothing ever is.

We are born, we age, we get sick and injured and eventually die.

There is no known way to stop this physical process. I'm learning to accept and embrace this, especially the later parts. This helps snap my mind out of the dream that I will live forever and helps me take advantage of what is happen right now and be at peace with it, good or bad - deeply appreciating good knowing it will not last, and the bad, knowing that it will pass too. There is peace and contentment in there if one can take the time to stop, gets still and waits for it to appear but not demanding that it show up - that's when it comes I hear

Basically cooking along getting out as much as my hand will let me - more lately and having fun as the daylight becomes less and we go into my favorite season of all, WINTER. That's when this activity journal began, that is when it will end. Some pictures till next time...

Unlikely guest on my friends pullover, kind of like the one in my avatar that I found dead on the sidewalk. This one was still very much alive but mosquitoes are thining out and so is he or she...

Some sand that I shook out of a used kite from Kauai and made a little project of...

Placed sand on my desk at work near other odd stuff (even some chewed gum!)

...and as it cools down here, the winds start to pick up till it's just too damn cold to be in the water, then kitesnowboarding season is not far behind!

And for the record...

September is a warp. What a great month for activites and chances to "work out" out side having fun. Oct is a tricky month so I'll be looking for alternatives before the ice and snow season kicks in full time next month. Opportunicy to get on the water this Wed with temp maybe hitting 80 F and water still tolerable. I'll take some pics of that happens.

Local Kite Spot that I visited for the first time this year in September...

And for the record September stats. Continuing log here. And it just dawned on my yesterday in the shower that yesterday was my 3 year anniversary since I've made an effort to avoid eating Grains, Potatoes and Sugar. For me; it works.

Congrats on your 3 year anniversary!!! Hope you are healing well. Looks like another good month of fun. I have been neglecting my own gym log...outside following your lead, though not quite as adventurous as kite foiling. Mostly waterfall hikes on the north shore and getting ready to a skating competition- first one since 2016.

I do love winter, too. Hoping to get out more. Try snowshoeing and maybe I could convince someone to teach me skate kiting. Hint. Hint. 😉
