Default Dad thinking of quitting LC again

Input & opinions appreciated...

May 2001 he started Atkins at 380 lbs.
By May 2002 he was at 290.
Between May 2002 and April 2003- Stalled, no loss. Carbs still were kept at induction-ish levels, no changes there.
After stalling for this long, he did what Dr. A said, and instead of stopping altogether, he switched to another plan--Jenny Craig. Since April, he has lost another 40-45 lbs, Then stopped losing there too. (10 lbs away from his goal weight)
Fearing that the whole "low-fat/ controled portion" thing would backfire, and he would start to gain, he started Atkins induction again 3 weeks ago.
Disapointed he has not lost anything yet, he said today that he was thinking of going back to Jenny Craig.

We appreciate all of your thoughts...TIA

It's obvious that your dear Dad is trying hard, as best as he knows how to. He needs credit for sticking with it as much as he has.

The danger in LC'ing and then swinging to the side of the low-fat/restrictive calorie pendulum is that he is playing risk with his organs.

Please, please encourage your dad to stay with LC'ing. Maybe he can pinpoint for you what are the hardest struggles for him. Also we have a forum here for people who weigh as much as he. They totally understand what he is going through. Usually our endeavors have more importance when we receive encouragment from people who have truly walked in our shoes.

I wish you the best.

He's only 10 pounds away from goal? Maybe his goal is a little off?
And I agree, yoyoing between extremes of eating won't do his health any good. Which eating plan does he feel he can stick with? Perhaps that's the best approach.
Since NO ONE can go back to their "old", unworkable way of eating...
