Default 6 Week Cure for the Middle Aged Middle Challenge Begin

Hi all! I have worked through LC living for several years, and due to some recent health problems, I have fallen off the wagon and gained. I would like to use the 6 Week Cure by Dr. Eades as a jump start to getting back on board with LC living. My health problems involve autoimmune issues, and according to some "greek speaking" microbiology doctors I have found, low carb is the way to go to prevent inflammatory problems associated with autoimmune stuff.
Long story short, I'd like to give some others a chance to get their hands on a copy of the book if they haven't already gotten one, or read up on forums to see if it's right for them, and give us all a chance to assemble the necessary components of the diet.
I'd like to begin May 15th, come and go as you are, and as you please...the more the merrier.
If you'd like to join, come on with me, we'll encourage each other!! To start, I need to start with some measurements, jot down the guidelines to have handy, and go get my whey protein shake mix.
The following page has a great forum that can get anyone started who doesn't currently own a book. Look in your library, or amazon has it if you need your own copy.

Hi Felicie! Go to the link I posted above, or google 6 week cure for the middle age middle. The link above gives lots of insight as to the diet, recipes for shakes, which protein powder is better, etc.
In a nutshell, Dr. Eades says we need to cut out caffeine and other things like ibuprofen and alcohol so that our liver can do it's job, and this will help our bodies burn fat. Once we've cut out caffeine, we go two weeks (phase one) on the prescribed high protein shakes, and a single real meal (low carb, high protein) I was worried about hunger in phase one, but most of the people have reported that the protein keeps them feeling full. In phase 2, it's a low carb regimen.
Quoted from LA Times:
During the first two weeks of the six-week plan, dieters are instructed to eat one protein-heavy meal of real food a day. That meal might include a chicken Caesar salad lettuce wrap and some grapes, or flank steak and sautéed spinach, an olive oil vinaigrette-dressed tomato and blackberries with cream. The book includes 80-plus recipes for dishes that can be eaten on the program.

Three other meals for the day consist of a protein shake boosted with an artificial sweetener such as Splenda, two tablespoons of heavy cream, leucine and D-ribose. Diet syrups, diet soda and frozen berries may be added to the shakes for flavoring. A vitamin and mineral supplement is highly recommended.

I purchased the kindle edition two weeks ago, but for dieting, I think I need the hardcopy.
Hope this helps a little!

Applewench, thank you, I'll read about it. (I think it might be tricky for me to get access to their protein shakes though). Quitting coffee - also tough.

No prob, Felicie. I had to cut caffeine down. Made me groggy and grumpy a couple of days, but it's getting better. Others have reported (on the low carb friends site) that they feel more energetic once that 4th day is by. I've ordered protein shake powder from amazon, after looking at reviews and what they said on the forum, I got Designer Whey brand. Has all the nutrients the plan requires, and most people say it's tasty. I'm planning on trying some of the recipes they recommend...pumpkin pie, banana nut, gingerbread. (look at all those carb-y treats I listed!!!!) I hope what they're saying is true...the higher protein shakes keep you fuller longer. I don't need to be feeling hungry!!! I still need to get a few things from the grocery store, like coconut milk, and heavy whipping cream.

This interview is great explaining the difference between the Eades' Protein Power and 6 Week Cure. Here's the link to the Jimmy Moore interview with the Eades.

http://www.thelivinlowcarbshow.com/...ad-episode-286/

At 11 minutes they describe the difference between visceral fat and subcutaneous fat, and why the diet is designed to really focus on losing visceral fat.

week 1&2 -- 3 shakes and a meal
week 3&4 -- "meat weeks" good red meats, butter but no dairy. No limit on meat.

Got my 6WC hardcopy in the mail yesterday. So much easier to work with than my kindle version! Just waiting on protein powder delivery, and since the transition off of coffee went a lot easier than I thought, and since there's not much interest, I'll just post in my journal the progress etc. I'm actually looking forward to starting this diet!!! Armed with lots of different recipes...Felicie, feel free to visit my journal if you decide to follow the program!
