Brewer saved my life! When I was pregnant we learned of it from my midwives and read the book and committed to the principles. Brewer led to Atkins and our current diet. It made a big difference in my last pregnancy and the principles allowed me to recover better from 3 difficult pregnancies (nausea and vomiting).

Thanks, could you give me an idea of a days menu? It sounds like so much food! I am used to staying at 20-60 carbs, so it also sounds like way too many carbs....so you think I could cut out the grains and still be ok?

If you are already doing Atkins, you don't really need to follow a Brewer menu. It was just useful for me in terms of understanding that protein and fat were important in pregnancy (plus meat especially). I remember eating the high protein pancakes, but I would not do that now since I am grain free. One of the main concepts, I think, is to eat at least 100 grams of protein every day.
