Hi Theresa,
Welcome..I follow CALP - a later book written by the Hellers (and despite the title, it is for any age). CALP stands for Carbohydrate Addicts Lifespan Program (and the rest of the title is "A Personalized Plan for Becoming Slim, Fit, and Healthy in your 40s, 50s, 60s and Beyond").
Re the satiation issue,for me, I need fat to feel satiated. I use real butter, full fat cheese, clean sour cream (clean as in no additives or hidden sugars..I use Daisy Brand, not sure if that is available in your area or not, since I haven't lived in upstate NY in a bit now).
So..if I were dealing with cravings, I'd be sure to choose a fattier protein, like a pork steak, instead of a lean piece of fish or skinless chicken
