Default Ruth's Challenge #2

Here's this weeks challenge! And Ruth came up with a dilly.

That's right. We're talking about the "E" word.

This week we are adding in two 20 minute weight training sessions. Pick the regimen that appeals most to you (I'll probably use STRONG WOMEN STAY YOUNG) and go for it!

This is in addition to the previous challenges (we are building good habits here).

So here's what it looks like folks:

1) Limit of two starchy carb servings per day. And drink a big glass of water before and after each meal. (you can drink more if you want)

2) Five servings of fruit and veggies each day

3) Two 20 minute workouts with weights.

WE CAN DO THIS! :yah:

Well I've neglected to post my challenge results this week. An old friend passed away quite unexpectedly Monday evening and I think I'm still in shock.

I've done just fine with food & water this week but haven't mamaged to get the weight training in. I did move my hand weights to the living room --- that's progress right? I still have a few days left though. I could do the two sessions yet!

Dear Molly!

I am so very sorry about your friend's death. What a sad and difficult time this must be for you. As I posted last week, I had to put our beloved 13-1/2 year old Collie to sleep just 3 weeks ago, and WOW, did that ever hurt. I cried for 7 days straight about Oreo -- and all he symbolized (our family life, the childhood of both my younger kids, etc.). I hope that your memories of your friend will be a comfort. Loving is always a mixed blessing -- but it IS a blessing nonetheless.

As for my Challenge -- I did one full session today -- because of you. I worked for an hour in the garden plus I lifted weights (upper body) for 20 minutes, and then, just because I was so happy to be actually exercising, I walked on my treadmill for 25 minutes (150 calories!!) I had to do it at 10:30pm because I had such a busy day, but so what? I feel good. *-D

I logged it all on FitDay.com for 8/22 -- and really feel a sense of accomplishment. Also, when I saw the total calories for the day, I decided to have a 10 calorie sugar free jello for dessert, rather than no sugar ice cream!! That saved over 100 calories. GO ME.

I will post again as soon as I have done my second weight lifting session -- probably on Saturday.

Thanks for being there.
Ruth

Hi everyone!
Ruth you are doing great on the challenges ---

Quincey and Cheryl??? How's it going for you two?

I didn't do nearly as well as Ruth. If its ok with everyone I thought we'd do the same challenge this week.

I am DETERMINED to do some sort of exercise this time!

Dear All --

I concur! Let's extend the current Challenge. I am really committed to eating ONLY LEGAL FOOD. I have been very good about it for several days now, and it feels right.

Today I got enough exercise (tennis and a walk), but last night when I planned to walk for 20 mins. on the treadmill AND lift weights, I fell sound asleep on top of the bed at 10:30 and slept until 9 this morning. (I averaged only about 5 hours a night the 7 days before that...so I was making up for some sleep deprivation.) Woke feeling like a tiger today. (lol)

Take care, everyone. Feel free to join our posts and challenges.
