Default Halo Top Ice Cream

I have seen this stuff in the food store for the past few months but never looked at it. It is made with organic stevia, but does have a few grams of carbs per serving. Looks interesting

It also has organic cane sugar. Since ingredients are listed in order of their amounts, it is clear that there is more organic cane sugar than there is organic stevia:

"Milk and cream, eggs, erythritol, prebiotic fiber, milk protein concentrate, organic cane sugar, vegetable glycerin, vanilla extract, vanilla beans, sea salt, organic carob gum, organic guar gum, organic stevia."

Plus the nutrition label say that there are 13 gms of carbs per serving with serving size 1/2 cup which is a pretty small serving.

This is definitely not a low carb food. I would avoid it.

Jean

5 grams of sugar is about a heaping teaspoon (per half cup).

I tried it and thought it was too sweet.

I'd rather make my own.

When it comes to ice cream, I trust it if I made it.

I used to mix cream with berries and call it icecream, but I'd end up going back for more, or making a bigger bowl every time, to the point where even the lowest carb berries were driving my carb intake up too high. Now I make it with heavy cream, maybe an egg yolk, some sweetener, and minimal flavouring, like a capful of rum or half teaspoon of cocoa. Sometimes plain.

I had some before going on a low carb diet, and I thought the lemon bar flavor was delicious.

I avoid the higher net carb flavors, but do enjoy the Birthday cake and Sea Salt Caramel flavors.

But my ice cream of choice is the Breyer's Carb Smart Chocolate. I like the taste and texture better, and it's less than a third the cost.
