Here's one: look at your tied shoes. Where is the tie located: the center of the strings or on the side of the strings. That is something I noticed when I lost weight -- suddenly I was tying laces in the center rather than on the side.

What I hate about being fat is that my daughter is getting married next year and has been engaged since last summer and she and her fiance have avoided my queries as to when I will meet HIS parents. She tells me that they are all so slim and hardly eat anything. It doesnt take much imagination to figure out that they are embarrassed of me and the weight.

I hate that a friend of mine always tells me that if it werent for my stomach I would look normal- that I look slim from the back-I know she doesnt mean to insult me but I do feel insulted. I tell her that from now on I will walk backwards.

That burns alright!! It's really a shame.

Really shows where they're priorities are at though--doesn't it!

My own mother doesn't even understand what my career entails to this very day. I've only been in this line of work for 9 years! HA!
My accomplishments are not important, just my weight.

I know it's not a replacement for family acknowledgment, but at least we have each other to cheer for here on this forum! And, you have come a long way~!!!

That is truly, truly very sad.
Terrible how people's mindsets can spill over in their attitudes and they don't even realize how horrible they're being.

Have you the kind of relationship that you could possibly have a discussion about how you've been feeling? I suspect sooner would be much better than later....

Essentially, it's really their problem! And shame on them for being so shallow.

As for your friend; that one comment tells me she's more obsessed about your weight than you are! I can't help but wonder how fantastic it must be to be normal eh?!
I don't mean to be over-critical, but maybe it's time for a new friend.

One of the biggest reasons I hate being fat is because for me it feels like a handicap. I cannot hike, bike, jog, at the pace of others. I feel limited when I go shopping, especially in this city [if you're not a size 14 and under good luck!] I feel limited in so many capacities. I also feel older than my years. As for the stigma of being overweight, my MIL who passed away 5 years ago now, used to be obsessed with weight. She was always tall and thin and I suspect felt somewhat superior to other's who weren't. She lived far from us so we didn't see her too often, but I would have huge self-esteem issues to deal with after each weekend visit. It was so huge in her mind that when she spoke of someone that we hadn't met yet, her description always started with their body type and weight, then she would get to the point. She also loved to dig by talking about how fat she was and how she had a 'roll' here or there....hint, hint...
[she was almost 6' tall and weighed 115 pounds!! Rolls my a**!

I miss her dearly because of the great person she was. I don't miss that part though.

For me, it is being tired. I love having energy. I want to be the one who jumps up to grab things for people. Right now, I'm not terribly springy so much as sproingy.

But with lost weight comes found energy!

..The 'cutting your toenails' point made me think of shaving my legs. its damn near impossible for me to reach around the back and shave there...

Having a kid make derogatory remarks to me at the local swimming pool while his mom and her size zero friends sat there and said nothing, really hurt too!

Otherwise I think we all share in a lot of the same experiences:
flying/theatres/stadium or store twirly things. And ya gotta love those in laws!

I hate shopping for clothes.
I hate the way people look at me when I am looking at bathing suits
I hate that I got kicked off a carnival ride that my son begged me to get on.
I hate to look at myself in the mirror
Soon I will love all of these things and I will ride every ride at the carnival with my son!!!
