Default Dry Curd Cottage Cheese

Does anyone know where I can purchase dry curd cottage cheese, either online, or here in Toronto?

Thank you (as always) for your help

You should be able to find it in any large grocery store near the creamed cottage cheese.

Hi there,

I used to buy it at safeway before I started low carbing. I mix bbq salmon, the cottage cheese, a little mayo and dill. You can also try it with tofu instead of the cheese.

Default Thank you...

you said you had it BEFORE you started low carbing, is there something in this product that would not be suitable for a lowcarb diet? I was under the assumption that it had only 1 gram of carbs per serving, unlike other cottage cheeses that have much more.

Thank you again for your input

Hi there,

The reason I had it before I started low carbing is because I used to make it like a spread and would eat it instead of a cheese with a nice peace of bread

Since I don't eat bread anymore I don't make the spread either, but now that I think about it I think I can just make some to have with wasa or slices of cucumbers...

I have bought it in the past ~ the Dominion in the Don Mills Centre (Lawrence & Don Mills Rd).

You'll find it in the side of dairy section where the milk is, not the side where the cheeses are.

I have tried in the past before to find out the carb grams per serving of this stuff, but couldn't find anything.

1 carb gram per serving was mentioned. How big is the serving?

All Canadian dry curd cottage cheese that I have purchased for the last three years has the nutrition info right on the tub, either lid or side, with carb count and serving size, which is usually 125g or about a 1/2 Cup.

Found right next to the regular and low-fat ICK! and 2% cottage cheeses in the dairy case near the sour cream and yogurt in every major grocery store. At least out West and you Ontariarians aren't THAT different, are ya?

Have y'all had a peek in either the LowCarb Kitchen forum or the LowCarb Products forum? All kinds of info about such things there.
