Default Calorie intake for strength training?

What do ya'll think? My next workout plan after coming back from vacation in July is to increase strength in general. Still picking out a split I like and exercises, but how much should I eat? I'm not looking to drop body fat at this time, should I treat this like a bulk with regards to eating?

I read in a Mens Health mag that a strong man should be able to bench 150% of his body weight, so I made that a goal for myself, which would be 270 to 280 at my present fluctuating weight. I'm tall with long gorilla arms, so benching is not a strong point for me, but will be soon!

Heck, if anyone has any pointers for increasing strength, please feel free to post or pm me!

Thanks!

You are a couple inches taller than me so we probably have similar calorie needs. I can build muscle well when eating 3000 calories per day, but depending on your activity level you might need to adjust that up or down. If I were you I would not go higher than 3500 to start. Make sure you get between 30 to 50 grams of protein at each meal, get the vast majority of your other calories from fats and good oils (not highly processed... coconut, olive, flax...), eat about 4-7 meals per day (more is better), and consider some type of CKD if you are willing to do that type of thing. I eat 2 carbup meals per week.
Personally, I eat about 2000 cals./day when cutting and 3000/day when trying to build muscle... I find that I don't put on fat quickly at 3000.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info, sound good to me! Been eating around 2000 cal a day on bfl, but have been going overboard with the cheat meals though. Gonna start planning in 2 meals a week instead of taking a whole day, that usually turns into a cheat weekend for me, hehe. Luckily I haven't picked up too much fat, but then I think of how much leaner I could be.
