Here's my question: did any of you find that you needed a transitional kind of `stabilization' phase of eating to help nail down your loss when you got to goal? If so, what did that consist of? Also, did you find that you needed to overshoot goal to account for that initial water loss being cancelled out by a water gain?
If the stabilization question is puzzling, please say so and I'll try to explain better what I mean.

Hi Kathleen,
I know your post is a little old, but also noticed that there isn't any replies yet....
I am on the tail end of "pre maintenance", I have 6 more pounds to reach my ideal weight goal.
I have found that yes, I personally have needed to take time to stablize. I have to restrict calories as well as exercise strenuously (something I didn't have to do before) to get these last few pounds off. However, I am finding that I either lose a little too fast, or fluctuate up, and doing a lot of experimenting right now to see where I will be able to stablize.
For a few weeks, one week focused on weight loss mode, with the following week focused on maintenance worked well....I am getting impatient again, so now I am focused on weight loss during the week, maintenance on weekends.
It is a little harder than I thought it would be. I can already see that I won't just reach my weight goal and everything just "stops". I am glad, however, that I have taken the time to investigate maintenance, and at least get good feel as to how my body is going to react once my weight loss phase is over.
