Default Why does BG go up with exercise?

I had read that it does & finally checked for myself today. After 40 minutes of brisk walking - both uphill and down - my BG went up by 14. I didn't feel like poking extra holes in my fingers to find out how quickly it went back down.

Is there a simple explanation of this somewhere I could read?

Muscles need energy and glucose provides it, but if you don't have enough insulin to get it into the muscles, there will be excess. http://www.joslin.org/info/why_do_b...l_activity.html

Thank you! After reading that I know I don't have to worry - my BG has been getting lower almost by the day. No way is it close to 250!

It will be nice if my body will eventually be able to produce enough insulin for the sugar to go up with exercise.
