Got a 12 pack of 12 pill bottles off the web for under $10.00.
I will take 4 pills three times a day for 12 days and see what Berberine does for me.

awesome! Hope it works well.... I got my manufacturer to make me berberine hcl tablets 500mg... with an added 24 mg of banaba (I really like banaba.. it may not help for a lot... but it is an extra bonus for others)

Eddie, try taking the gymnema at least twice daily along with it for better results.

I'm now on my 10th day without Berberine. My FBGs' have been averaging 95-105... My daytime BG readings have been between 85 and 95... My 1 hr pp meals have been under 125...

I just started taking my gymnema twice daily on Wednesday morning and my numbers are better the last 2 days.

My carb intake has been high, as we've been on the road since Tuesday. We lost all power from the hurricane, so we went up north, ended up in Pennsylvannia for a couple of days and we're still in Tennessee tonight and will be home tomorrow night... I guess we'll be preparing for the next hurricane that's predicted....

Ron
I take 510 mg gymnema pill before each meal-3 per day.
This is my second day on Berberine-my BG aleady seems to be
better than normal.
Hurricanes will hopefully not bother you again for this season
Glad you and your wife are safe
Regards
Eddie

Berberine(huang lian su) is working very well for me.
Good link about: http://chinesemedicinenews.com/2007...ntific-backing/
Several sources on the internet under the name of "huang lian su".
Thanks for keying us into this,Ron.As always,it will probably
work for some and possibly not work for some.Regarding diabetes, the article that I linked indicates that it works by
increasing muscle sensitivity to insulin.
Cheers
Eddie

Eddie, I assume you stopped the metformin since beginning the berberine. If not, please watch out for hypos...

Also, from my experience with berberine, if you use it long term; I think you'll see weight loss, lower cholesterol, lower triglycerides, lower blood presssure and an increased sex drive.... But on the sex drive improvement, it is probably just from the overall improved health.

Also, from my experience and from what I've read, I think it is good to get off of any herb after 3 months for at least a couple of weeks, but perhaps for as long as a month before starting it up again. That is why I've ordered different herbs and will use them when not on the berberine. I have one exception to that. I use the d-care version of gymnema sylvestre and have been on it about 2 years and don't plan on getting off of it exept for an occasional skipped dose.

Good luck and post some BG numbers... I know that at about 2 months use, I quit having spikes above 125, except when really going off plan and then it only raised it slightly higher.

I'm at 2 weeks off of the berberine now and still doing ok so far... I did skip my gymnema for a week before deciding I wanted to keep using it and I'll probably not skip that again...

looking forward to seeing your results posted. if you have a way to check your blood pressure, even if your blood pressure was normal before, check it after you've been on the berbernine for a week or so... I think you might be pleasantly surprised....

Berberine really works well.I take 4 or 5 pills about an hour after a meal twice a day.It may be helping me lose weight-I've now
lost 4 pounds in about 2.5 weeks. Before this,I was stuck with
no weight loss for 2,3 years even though my calorie intake is small and I get quite a bit of exercise. The big impact is on
my BG number which will usually be down into 90's an hour
after I've taken the Berberine. For those looking for an internet
source, google "huang lian su".I,like Ron,can only state that this
works well for me but I have no idea how it will work for others.
Bye from battered but recovering Houston
Eddie

Eddie, glad to hear it is working for you...

I'm having a bit of success also with the bittermelon. I've now been off the berberine 3 weeks. I think I will give it one more week then probably go back on it a couple of months at a time, with a 2 week break then back on it..

My main decision for going back on the berberine is that I'm sitting on a 2 year supply of the stuff and the bottles have an expiration date in 2010....

would one of you two like to try the berberine formula I made? it has 500 mg of berberine per capsule so you only have to take it 2-3 times a day. I added some banaba to it as well..... lemme know! I will send either one of you a bottle to try.

I have not tried it.... I actually got it manufactured and I will post the link on here when it is done. I am sure you are stocked full of your own berberine..... I just want some people with experience to try mine. Thank you though!

Three days to start back on my berberine. I feel a whole lot more comfortable with it and I'm realizing that my timing to get off of it a couple of weeks was good. Now, I can be on the berberine through the holidays. I plan to take it continuously until January....

Well, although it hasn't done anything for my FBG it sure has helped my intestines. I'm telling my intestine challenged friends at a gluten free forum to give it a try.

I suspect it might have killed off a bacterial overgrowth in the small intestines.

Either that, or else the dairy I've been eating is giving me constipation that is perfectly balancing out the normal semi-D I have.

I wonder if I can eat nuts again?
