Eddie, I assume you stopped the metformin since beginning the berberine. If not, please watch out for hypos...
Also, from my experience with berberine, if you use it long term; I think you'll see weight loss, lower cholesterol, lower triglycerides, lower blood presssure and an increased sex drive.... But on the sex drive improvement, it is probably just from the overall improved health.
Also, from my experience and from what I've read, I think it is good to get off of any herb after 3 months for at least a couple of weeks, but perhaps for as long as a month before starting it up again. That is why I've ordered different herbs and will use them when not on the berberine. I have one exception to that. I use the d-care version of gymnema sylvestre and have been on it about 2 years and don't plan on getting off of it exept for an occasional skipped dose.
Good luck and post some BG numbers... I know that at about 2 months use, I quit having spikes above 125, except when really going off plan and then it only raised it slightly higher.
I'm at 2 weeks off of the berberine now and still doing ok so far... I did skip my gymnema for a week before deciding I wanted to keep using it and I'll probably not skip that again...
looking forward to seeing your results posted. if you have a way to check your blood pressure, even if your blood pressure was normal before, check it after you've been on the berbernine for a week or so... I think you might be pleasantly surprised....
