Fairly neutral article about the number of people who have tried Atkins:

Well spotted Vanilla!

Also worth mentioning is that there's a specific section at the bottom asking people for their personal experience of the diet...

I for one am definitely filling it out!

Well done Kelly!

I do think its a hopeful opportunity. When people actually invite your comments, that's the first part of the battle already won!

Going to be watching Tonight with Trevor McDonald!! I have also sent an email to the Daily Mirror. I think that The Atkins Diet is finally getting some decent recognition!

lol, I put my opinion in the other thread about the program! Have you clicked on the bbc link above again, they've put up some of the comments they've had back, majority are favourable

Only slightly related - this afternoon my kiddo went to a big birthday party at the local sports hall, haven't seen most of the mums since end of term 6 weeks ago, when I dropped Dan off there was lots of sneaky looks and whispering which I just smiled and shrugged off, picked him up and ended up spending 30 mins explaining how I've lost the weight over the summer, had several of the usual 'but it's so dangerous' comments, but the people who know me better were really interested and at least 3 of them are going to try it, when school re-starts on wednesday I'm going to offer to do a mini low-carb 'coffee morning' to talk about the plan.

Once the reporter started going on about how he felt a after 2/3 days l stoped watching although the tape carried on.
l do the Clarke plan which says keep below 40g per day so l haven't experienced the 2 wk induction of atkins.

But over the last 4 months l have never felt better. l have droped nearly 3 stone in weight and gone from 48/46" trousers to 42 this weekend.

l find the media full of statements like " maybe " and "possibly " that l have stopped taking any note. There are more real people in this forum who have been there / dun it, to give me confedance to keep on going. l have have been over weight too long following the standard way of life.

Well said Steve!

Induction left me feeling like death for about 7-10 days... but with enough sudden bursts of phenomenal energy to keep me more than interested!

Would I say 7-10 days of nausea/tiredness/headaches are worth it to be rid of 5+ years of nausea/exhaustion/insomnia/flu/pain/etc? Hell yes!!!

Like you say... the media are full of such spurious nonsense its long since ceased being worth listening to them.

That sounds like a great idea! I am planning on starting an Atkins Support Group. A Place where people can meet up express ideas and support each other, without having to weigh in every week, unless they want to and no pressure to lose weight!

As for the Trevor McDonald documentary, insubstantial and shallow. It's nothing I hadn't heard before!
