I've just been cutting sugar. But I've read a lot of different low carb books. Tried Atkins for a short short time but it was just too restrictive for me in the beginning phases. It did help cut the sugar cravings though, so that is definitely a positive.

Well my husband and I are going out of town this weekend and I intend to give it a try. If I can stick with it during a vacation then I can stick with it at home.

I'm glad I found this forum. I hope to have many great discussions about this. Honestly if I can just see a consistent 1 lb loss each week I will be happy. I certainly didn't gain 50lbs overnight so I'm willing to take it slowly.

hi Sunny-
this is so doable on vacation- just takes some determination and planning. I get eggs and coffee for breakfast (once in Italy just had cheese every morning- no eggs!), some kind of chicken or cheese for lunch with a salad if possible, and then any dinner I want with veggie/protein/carb. In Israel I had eggs for breakfast, shwarma plate for lunch, and whatever for dinner. I either come back the same weight or up a couple of pounds that is gone in a day or two.
Have fun and tell us all about it when you come back!

Well, sticking to the plan while traveling was OK. The first day was difficult but the second and third went well.

Day 2 menu
Brkf
Denny's
ham and cheddar omelet
Lunch
Ruby Tuesdays
cheeseburger, extra pickles (no bun)
salad bar
Dinner
Ruth's Chris
chesse stuffed chicken
salad w/ blue cheese dressing
broccoli w/ butter
sweet potato casserole

Day 3
Brkf
Cracker Barrell
poached eggs
sausage
bacon
Lunch
Fire House Subs
Smoked Turkey Toss Salad

Dinner (will be)
Smoked Turkey Toss Salad
add cranberries
Sun Chips

Don't know if I lost wieight. My goal was to just see if I could stick to the plan.
Tomorrow is first weigh in day.

I don't eat out much either...only when we travel or for special occasions.
I prepare all of my meals at home.

Now that the mini vacation is over I'm back to being a kitchen slave.
