They put me on a PPI... And I took two of them, total, ever. The headaches were so bad. It was the perfect excuse NOT to take them.
I see the doc tomorrow. I'm HOPING he accepts it when I tell him I went looking for dietary advice and what I found is working for me.
My primary reason for going to docs is always the testing/diagnoses. I tend to balk at prescriptions for most things, and to ignore their dietary advice.
My LC got off track years ago, in The Year of Five Funerals. You reach a point where you know the food you're looking at will kill you and go, "Great -- give me two."
Thing is, LC is still ingrained in me, and it's kind of the underlying "base" around how we eat. "That's not food. That's just carbs. You need some protein and FAT!" is a common concept around our house. My son knows he won't "survive" on a meal that isn't high fat protein. My daughter -- who would live on bread and fruit if I let her -- knows she won't be allowed to do X until she eats some real protein. They both know bread and grain aren't real foods -- they're FILLER.
My worst cheat since I started was last night. I went to an event that ended in a potluck. For various reasons, I wound up being LATE (and thus not having time to make/pick up anything).
Most of the food was carbs.
SOMEONE brought some chicken wings. I ate a few of those, the meat-part of some enchilada pie someone brought, and a little fresh fruit. And water.
(Someone had BLACKBERRIES!! Fruit never tastes so luciuos as when you're on LC, I swear... Induction, so it was forbidden fruit, to boot!)
I passed on the pasta, the brownies, all the crap.
I left, around 9:30, and was still hungry... Fortunately, there was a Zaxby's. and I got some naked wings. (Not eating spicy with GERD still in the background, and anything else would be sugar.)
Potlucks have been one of my downfalls, when I've tried to go back LC, lately. I'll do great, and then I'll have an evening event that's potluck... typically after I've been running all day without even time to pee, let alone eat. And...I'd find literally nothing to eat. MAYBE a touch of salad or a few veggies.
One thing I'm noticing right now is that GERD is a lot like morning sickness: If I go too long without eating, it acts up. It was "tickling" last night, and I didn't eat enough at the gathering to stave it off. Hence the Zaxby's, rather than waiting the 1/2 hour to drive home before scrounging for something. (Because I'm not full-out cooking at 10pm, no matter how hungry I am!) Granted, I hadn't eaten a lot during the day... some BP coffee for breakfast, and hubby made some egg salad at lunch. (He makes a GOOD egg salad.) But I didn't have
much of it, because I was distracted. By about 6pm, I could feel things acting up... And the food-portion of the potluck even didn't start until around 8.
