I am interested in low carbs because I'm borderline type 2 diabetic and hypoglycemic - I also have PCOS (lucky me.)
I have combined the Zone and Atkins - that is, I eat lots of protein, drink water, and make sure the few carbs I get are good carbs - from good sources like broccoli etc.
Zone says you have to eat about twice the amount of carbs as protein - which isn't good in my opinion. BUT if you have good carbs - and that includes some good things like nuts and olives, which Atkins likes - then it's OK, you can have more of these and not gain weight or have health problems associated with high carb intake.
My yeast infections have almost gone now - unbelievable. (But this means I have to stay away from cheese though which is HARD!! )
I have been doing this for about a month and I have so much energy now it's incredible. Had another fasting blood test done last week and I'm seeing my Dr to go over it tomorrow, I think the results will be better.
Cutting out refined sugars and caffeine alone has helped me tremendously - After that it's just a matter of adjusting the (low) carbs ... which everyone should probably do on an ongoing basis.
Good luck everyone - I do think you have to adapt thses things for yourself, but the important thing is to not give up -
