That is standard Zone advice. It is intended to stabilize your blood sugar and get your metabolism going after the 6-8 hour fast (sleep).

Well, it's not the best practice, but, if your remaining meals are balanced, you should be okay.
BTW, the Zone does not need to be followed 100% 100% of the time to be successful. Everyone's body reacts differently.
