Default blood type diet

Anybody tried this or think it is real? (see second paragraph) I am skeptical but I have to admit that I have tried several times to add back lentils, beans and cabbage to my low carb maintenance and it always seems to cause hunger or binges and dropping out of keto.

Type O-People with type O blood fare best on intense physical exercise and animal proteins and less well on dairy products and grains, says Dr. D'Adamo. The leading reason for weight gain among Type O's is the gluten found in wheat products and, to a lesser extent, lentils, corn, kidney beans, and cabbage, Dr. D'Adamo explains. Ideal exercises for Type O's include aerobics, martial arts, contact sports, and running.

Denise Minger did a talk on this, one point she makes is that the various blood types precede humanity, our ancestors went through all types of dietary adaptations with these blood types.

Thanks for the Denise Minger link, teaser. Yes, I fully agree with her that the Blood Type diet is just a big load of garbage.

My blood type is A, which from memory means I am supposed to do best on a vegetarian diet. Couldn't be more wrong! I am much healthiest on a meat/fish/eggs heavy diet with a few veggies thrown in here and there. Dairy occasionally.

And dcc0455, as I'm sure you've worked out for yourself, any food, no matter how "healthy" sounding is no good for YOU if it gives you cravings and binges. Maintenance ain't for the faint hearted, but it's worth it! Just looking in the mirror tells us that.

A friend who goes mad for every new diet or magic pill thinks the reason I do well on lchf is because I have type O blood. I feel so sorry for her & her husband - they are in very poor health, but do nothing, as her allegiance to the fads is always short-lived. Even some of the fads would be helpful if she stuck with them.

I read the book and tried the diet for a while.

It was convincing since I am a type O and was eating a "healthy" plant-based diet which was making me sick, fat and miserable. I had nothing to lose by trying meat and vegetables. No doubt I felt a thousand percent better and thought there must be something to it. But as soon as it got into type O subtypes and eliminated arbitrary vegetables like cucumbers, I got turned off to it and went on to the next thing. What I took away from it, though, was that my body was much happier eating meat and vegetables than beans and grains.

I remember when the diet for my blood type was entirely different. So anything about it that "works" is probably coincidence
