Default for those maintaining..

Hey all,

So I was thinking..
Question for all those maintaining..
Do you allow your self things you did not having during your weight loss phase now that you are just trying to maintain?

For me I have been wanting diet soda.. but every time I pull it out of the fridge.. I get this instant feeling of guilt and I quickly put back in the fridge. Kinda frustrating!!

I do allow myself other stuff.. more carbs.. extra low carb sweets.. more veggies.. more dairy.. it's just that darn diet soda that gives me the instant guilt like this..

LOL! I'd feel guilt over the sweets, not the diet cola.

yeah but the thing is with that, I bake all my own sweet treats.. I know what's in them.. it's not like I'm eating 3 atkins bars.. or going out buying sf chocolate ya know.. the soda.. well .. I dunno it might be the whole aspartame thing.

The aspartame rats lived longer, even though they had more cancer.

Have you considered making your own sodas? Liquid sucralose or stevia in some sparkling water and some flavouring extracts? I do a strawberry vanilla one that I really like. If you miss that texture of pop, add a little glycerin (if it doesn't spike your sugar) and it helps give it that little syrupy texture)

Do you have diet coke with splenda in your area? It is my drink of choice!

Spenda yellow. You can see it a mile away if they carry it. I shop at two grocery stores and only one of them has diet coke with splenda. The taste difference is amazing.

I have to say I stay pretty responsible. Probably wine is my archilles heel. I also am less strict about dairy than during the weight loss phase. I have increased berries, tomatoes, and flax with no issues. Also if offered other fruits somewhere I will eat them. Still no rice, potatoes, peas, corn, flour, grains or beans in any amount. Sweetners avoided unless I am making a marinade or dressing that requires sweetner. No fake desserts. Only dessert may be greek yogurt (full fat) with walnuts, berries and flax. If the berries are tart I may ad a splash of SF vanilla syrup

I used to keep a 2 litre bottle of Diet Pepsi in the fridge. its my fav.

Somewhere during my weight loss, I began to stop buying it so that I'd naturally drink more water or seltzer.

But once in a while now when I'm out and about, I'll get a can or bottle of it and its a nice treat for me today.

Im only in pre but I do have to let some things go....I cant do sugar...diet sodas..not for now.. probably along w/ caffene for other reasons.....I dont care for noodles, rice, and potatoes...so they are out....when I kept my wt stable for 7 yrs........I did it by ...eating well..avoiding junk..not eating anything ]I didnt truly love..my sweet tooth disappeared..and to be honest , there are very few breads that appeal to me.... and most of all keeping active....biking hiking kayaking...rock climbing...parking far from my destination
finding my joy in many things that dont involve food...
