Default Eeeeeekkkkk!!!!

Ok, I'm freaking out. In the last two days, I've managed to gain 3lbs (I understand it's only water and not fat). I've stayed on plan and been very careful about what I ate (with the exception of wine Saturday night, which never gives me any problems with weight or ketosis).

It is my TOM so it could also be due to that. My question is, could it be cocoa and dark chocolate?

Yesterday, I had two cups of hot cocoa (2 T of cocoa powder each) as well as one square of 85% cacao Lindt (about 2g net carb).

Does anyone find that cocoa powder or the dark chocolate causes water weight gain?

Just hoping it gets flushed out in a few days! I'm going to be pounding the water over the next couple days to get rid of it!

Never had a single issue with cocoa powder...but it could be different for each individual...only way to find out is to have it again when not approaching time of month and on a day when you eat things that don't affect you this way.

My money's on TOM. I went through a period of eating dark chocolate (and not just one square at a time!) every day for a few weeks (likely actually more like 2 months or so), and I still lost weight.

My vote is TOM - I had a hysterectomy, but still have my ovaries and I *still* gain about 3 or 4 lbs each time when I would normally have been having a period.

Just drink more water, stay off the scale for a few days and keep the course. You'll find yourself back down before you know it. *hugs*

It is NOT my TOTM and I'm up 2 pounds this morning even though my Ketostix are still dark purple. It's just water - no biggie. Though I would be cautious about the cocoa; it can definitely trigger cravings. Go easy on it.

Could be? I say almost definitely is. I gain 5-8 lbs right before TOM and don't lose it for 2-3 days after.

TOM is the reason. i always gain 2-3 pounds right before it starts and it just disappears when it's almost over.

My penny on TOM as well, it makes me gain 1-2 pounds but the good news is it goes away pretty quickly, I just avoid the scale for a couple of days. Hot cocoa can't really be the one to blame in this case.
