Default seeing isn't believing???

As of today I have lost 65 lbs and feel Great. I am very happy about this and not complaining. I am really close to my goal weight that I have set for myself (10 lbs to go!!!!). I honestly never thought I would reach this point.

I know that i have lost the weight. I know that my clothes have decreased by 6 sizes. I know that for the first time in decades I fit into a bikini off the rack!

Yet I look at my body and think, dang thunder thighs- they are huge!!! My body image doesn't seem to match what it should logically be. I see it (the weight loss) but still don't seem to believe it. Parts of me are super skinny but parts of me seem to refuse to budge.

Wondering if anyone else out there has had the issues as a result of weight loss?

Do pictures help? I can't see myself accurately, but pictures help a lot, especially when there are other people in it too.

yes they do, that's a great idea. One of my co workers called me into her office the other day and showed me a before pic of me she had taken years ago. It has been a goal for me to post before / after pic on here.

I am thinking weight loss is like watching your kids grow up- you don't see the changes every day. Then one day it just hits you how much they have changed, gradually over time

I agree, pics help a lot. Seeing what I look like next to family members or close friends who haven't changed sizes is very helpful. The changes are definitely gradual so having that before and after makes it hit home--just check out my before and current pics as an example.

I also find it useful to try on the one pair of pants that I kept from my "before" days. They fall right off of me now, and that provides another concrete visual that change has definitely happened.

Wow Melissa congrats on your success!

I found an interesting site (mybody.com) whis aims at healping people developm healthy images of themselves. Women, not perfectly shaped models, upload photos. Clicking through the photos every now and then one just strike me as the pysique I woulld like to have. Then I would note that they were the same weight or higher then where I am now! It was really helpful!

I gave away all of my bigger clothes but think I will go out and buy pair of pants at the bigger size to remind myself. Most of my heavier photos have been cropped off below the waist (lol) so I am still looking for one for the best before and after photo.

Thanks KariAnna I would suggest looking in a thrift store for a pair of the larger size pants. This way you can have that visual comparison without having to pay full price for the pants. If that doesn't work, check a store like Ross or Marshalls
