Debbie, are you eating enough? (10 - 12 times your body weight in calories a day, minimum) Are you drinking your water? (64 oz a day +8 oz for every 25 lbs you want to lose) And lastly, are you taking any supplements or vitamines? A good multi vitamine is required along with a potassium supplement to replace all that is being lost as your body gets rid of its excess water, and a calcium / magnesium supplement. Cal/mag should be chelated and come in one pill with a ratio of 2:1 (333mg cal/ 167 mg mag) I found the magnesium made a world of difference when I started taking it. Take one pill with a meal 3 times a day and one an hour before bed. Magnesium will help improve the quality of your sleep.

Starting a Journal in the "Bootcamp" section of forum would also be a good idea. You can keep track of your food intake and we would be better able to advise and help if we saw what you were eating and drinking.

Cheers,
Nat

Hi DebbieK

I'm new to this myself, so I don't feel qualified to give you any advice.

I Just wanted to say Hi from a fellow Australian.

A agree with Nat that starting a Journal is a good idea, the people on this board are just wonderful with sharing their knowledge and giving others support.

Good Luck Debbie
bye

Unhappy Feeling Better! Still not Loosing! Bugger!

Thanks for the replies.
I am feeling better for the last 2 days.
I think I over did it with the Darryl Lea Chocolate and ended up with the dreaded runs ... hence a bit dehydrated.

I am really concerned though. I am very ketotic but I have not lost any weight over the last 2 weeks. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there anywhere to get medical advise over the net?

Smile very ketotic ?

Hi Debbie

When you say you are "very ketotic" do you mean that your test strip is showing really dark ?
if so, you need to drink lots and lots more water.

Also you might try posting in general low-carb under daily low-carb support.

I don't think many people look through this one.

bye

Default Hi DebbieK

Ok, so I know I'm new too (and certainly no expert from experience), but, a couple of things I have picked up in my readings that might help......

- Make sure you eat enough fat
- Make sure you drink all your water... i'd say 1 litre for each
100 pounds
- Make sure you are eating enough
- I see you mention the Darrell Lea chocolate??
Well, be careful of these lo-carb, no-carb sweets during
Induction. Its best to limit them or cut them out altogether
until your body is buring fat efficiently and losing well. They can
prevent you from losing weight in the beginning.
- Keep the Induction period diet as pure and free of
artificial stuff as possible
- Make sure you are eating your Salad and Vegetatables -
make up your 20 grams of carbs with pure natural food.
- Stay away from Caffiene (switch to herbal tea and decaf)
Caffiene has much the same effect as sugar on your insulin
- If you are drinking soft drink, make sure it is free of aspartamine
(that's #951 in the codings). Aspartamine is, from everything
I've read, one of the main culprits for preventing the scales
going down.

I think its normal for a lot of people to feel pretty lousey the first week. I had terrible "carb withdrawal" the 2nd and 3rd day. But, stick with it Debbie, you will soon be feeling fabulous.

You say you already lost 11 pounds... was that during the first 2 weeks? If that's the case, this could just be a stall while your body is readjusting. I hear that's pretty normal for weeks 3 and 4.

Thanks for the support.
I will be sticking with it.
I have switched to herbal teas and I am increasing my water intake.
That stuff about aspartame is very interesting. I am doing Diet Sprite, Darryl Lea and Jelly for my sweet tooth. I will try cutting back on them though.
Thanks.

Default Let us know how you go....

Hi DebbieK.

Let us know how you go with the caffiene and asparatamine products gone.

Keep it up.

I know it must be frustrating to not be losing, but do you feel better anyways?

My other question would be is it possible to be PMT? I usually gain about 5 pounds in the 5 days before

Take care, and hang in there
Kim

Hi Everyone

I am feeling good. I am enjoying the program.
I still have not lost but I am not quitting. I will just have to keep on trying different things until I get it to work.

Thanks for all your support.

Hi Debbie,

How is it all going? I have just read this thread and hope that you are still going well. Personally I am really struggling to give up the diet coke (the caffeine and sweetner are probably slowing my weight loss down) and the LC chocolates. However I am very pleased with the amount of water I am drinking.

How are you finding things?

Cheers

Melsa

Default aspartamine and caffeine

Iam in my first week of LCing. I have a strong espresso every morning with aspartamine but that's it for those two risks. I only weigh and measure once a week so I will let you know if this has had any adverse affect. I am in ketosis however.
It sounds like you are eating a lot of sugar replacements, shouldn't you be trying to break your habit of these?

Hi Cali,

In the last 10 days I have reduced signifigantly the amount of sugar replacements and caffeine that I take in. I have noticed a difference in my cravings being less which is great. If I feel I really want something sweet I have been drinking diet Solo (no aspartamine) or having 1/2 a Darrell Lea sugarless chocolate bar.

Hope all is going well.

Cheers

Melsa
