Default Fa la la la la la la....

At our last Vancouver dinner, we discussed having a LC Christmas party/potluck on Sunday, December 2.

It's now time to get in gear! Can you believe that Christmas is only 45 days away!

I'll supply a big chunk of meat and dessert...

What say you all?

Karen

Twelve views and no replies?

Where are all you Vancouverites tonight? Oh I forgot. This is the evening we all drink lattes and go to our Douglas Fir worshipping meetings.

Default Hey, I got home at 10

I don't know any 'serious' lowcarbers that do lattes. Only BLACK will do. My eyes will hardly stay open but I couldn't let you feel so lonely and neglected - that's the 'compassionate' part of me. I was wearing my shop steward hat today at work, dealing with a harrassment/poisoned work environment (there's that word) in my dept. Draining is the best way to describe it so I'm off to bed in just a mo'.

I'll bet that the views are people that are a long way from Lotusland and just want to check on what we are up to.

My calendar is booked and I'll be there with bells on (Christmas socks that actually have bells, I have a great time wearing them) as well as other festive trimmings.

I'll have to cogitate on what to bring, but the first thing that springs to mind is that Pot Roast Pacifica that I mentioned the other night. Will confirm at a later date.

You mean December 2? That's what the Sunday is on my calendar, anyway!

Yes, I'd love to come! What time?

Thanks Rachel! Why, oh, why do I always do that! I've changed it.

How about 6:00?

And Ruth, some LC'ers drink lattes with whipping cream, though I would hope not too many lattes with whipping cream. Your situation yesterday sounds really unpleasant. I hate when that kind of stuff happens at work. Yuk!

Cool a tentative yes

That sounds great, Karen

it will be nice to meet some of the 'real' people off this board - and it'll be the first time (i guess your class will actually be the first time) i will have been around people who do LC as a WOL. it'll be a nice change to not have to explain/justify/be self-conscious about how i eat

Serious lower body workouts for the next 2 weeks if we're doing the can-can.

OK! I'm making prime rib and eggnog tiramisu for the pot-luck social. And perhaps a cranberry something...cheesecake, semi-freddo...?

I may even be able to figure out a low-carb tourtiere. Eggplant "crust" like mousakka, or surrounded by cabbage, like a cabbage roll?

Default Sounds great. Fa la la ding dong

Been busy and not on board much so missed the announcement until alerted by Karen. Not at my calendar as I type, but pretty sure Dec. 2 is free. Who am I kidding, of couse it's free. I'm feeling particularly uninspired lately about nice lc recipes, so not sure what to bring. Thinking smoked salmon and cream cheese, but what to scoop it with? Will give it a think and maybe have a rummage around the recipes.

Thanks for hosting, Karen.

Karen, have you had a chance to work out a domestic quantity, rather than 'institutional' size recipe for Braised Red Cabbage with Garam Masala that you served for Thanksgiving? I'm about to drool as I type. I've thought about it now and then and would like to make it, but since I've never cooked cabbage I don't know where to start. Previous attiutude to cooked cabbage: Eeewwww, yucky, no thanks!!! BUT I've had cooked RC twice now and it's good and a recipe would be wonderful.

Sign me,

Gratefully waiting,

Aww Ruth! Here you are salivating over it, and I haven't thought about it since then! I usually only think about braised red cabbage for holiday meals, but I should figure out a small version. For the big one, I just kept adding stuff to the pot - all kinds of stuff until I hit upon the garam masala idea.

Do you save chicken fat? That's the first step to cabbage greatness. If you like carraway seeds, frying cabbage in chicken or bacon fat with carraway seeds is fantastic.
