Hi Eagle wings, I am very proud of you. You are a great inspiration. If only I had the will power to lay off carbs. I am on the CAD diet. Could you tell me a couple of sample menus that you followed? I would love to hear from you. Bye, Amy

Hi Amyvr! Thank you for your kind words!
You can do it, too, when you lay out your priorities.

I had to give up much to gain more than I ever imagined!! Now I can look back and see that it was not a self-sacrifice to give up the foods that are harmful to me but indeed a reward given to myself!

My daily menu is pretty simple:This is how I eat now. Initially in the 1st few months I followed Atkins Induction to the letter. I am not losing weight as rapidly now but it does come off little at a time and with exercise, I'm looking forward to making it to my goal weight.

Breakfast~
2 cups Coffee, sometimes with splenda and cream
2-3 eggs sometimes scrambled with cheese
bacon, sausage, or some type of meat

as much "water" as one can drink

Lunch~
Turkey, mayo, cheese roll-up
small bowl of cottage cheese

"water"

Snack~
spoonful of peanut butter,
a piece of cheese, or oz or two of mixed nuts

Dinner~
meat such as pork chop, steak, chicken, fish etc.
serving of vegetable such as green beans, broccoli
salad, sugar free jello w/berries, coffee

Most nights I drink one diet pepsi and more water

I try to eat nothing after 8pm

Thats about it. This site's members have a tremendous wealth of knowledge. You need to glean and follow what will work with you and your family. At dinner I still make potatoes, pasta etc for my family ....I just make sure that I have a subsitute entry for myself. For instance, when I make spaghetti, I make cubed zuccini for my sauce instead of noodles. Or when we go out for pizza, I order a fantastic salad and have a few pieces of cheese and toppings. Creativity is everything! It has worked out remarkably well for my family to adapt my new woe around theirs. Little do they know, that they are eating more lo-carb than ever before with sly ex-changes here and there

Default Way to go

I know what you mean. I've been in denial for quite a while, but I know that my life would be so different if I dedicated more energy to losing the weight. It's a sort of sadness that hangs over you, even when you should be happy. I've been to gatherings and the thought in my mind is "Am I the fattest person here?" I can't imagine these days what it would be like to be able to see that I'm not. Most of all, is to be able to get rid of the back and knee pains that come with the extra weight. Congratulations on your succes.
