Default How bad is my food

As I've said before I have kitchen issues. I haven't been losing much and now I see my weight up several pounds and just wondered.

Coffee, 2 splenda, 2 tbsp whipping cream
atkins chili 350 cal 7 net carbs
lean cusinine braised beef with broccoli, snap peas bell pepper 180 cal, 15 net carbs
2tbsp butter
2 cheese sticks

Yesterday I only had coffee and one atkins meal.

I'm pretty hungry and confused where the weightloss is.

How long is it since the scales moved down? Are you near your time of the month? That always causes a temp water gain for most females I still do even though I am in my mid 50s. This far into your plan you might benefit from intermentent fasting. It really helped me get that last 20 or so pounds gone.

Yes! The only thing I’ll add is to make sure you’re getting enough potassium. Those premade meals are loaded with sodium - I know I need to supplement my potassium a good bit when I eat them.

I restarted on 12/15 at 179.0.
I lost 12.0lbs first 2 weeks, 1lb the 3rd week, 2lbs this week(1 day left).

It seems like its taking work to lose this weight, not eating a lot, plus low carbs. I'm 1b away from leaving obesity, which will hopefully get my dr off my back. I was thinking of IF. I've gone from size 18-20 to 16-18 so there is progress.

Yesterday I bought - frozen cooked meat, cream cheese, eggs, cheese sticks, I can add salads to this. Hoping I can get away with eating more if I eat plainer.

Thanks for responding madeyna

Losing 15 lbs in 4 weeks is superb, averaging 3.75 lbs/wk. The initial loss is mostly water; once that is gone, 0.5-1%/wk of your current weight is typical (0.83-1.65 lbs).

Tess you are absolutely right. I get pains in my hips when I'm low on potassium. Several times a week I find myself supplementing. By that time I'm probably fairly low. I'll start doing it daily and save myself the trouble.

Thanks deirdra you're making me feel like a good loser! I guess I gotta train my mind to accept this is a longer haul. I'm trying to save the atkins and lean cuisines for the weekends when I eat a little higher carbs.

nawchem (hi! you had advised me well on a recent thread of mine where i was struggling with dehydration, and...

i've added sea salt to my meals - and i doNT think that has made me retain EXCESS water, as i was previously losing too much ...now i seem OKAY, but...) -

since before adding the sea salt, i have been having trouble losing weight -

-
(cross posted as a /reply/ to another thread ...hoping someone can advise me, here...)

...i don't know if i'm allowed to call it a "stall," but... i can get down a /little/ (like, .5lb or 1lb), BUT it comes right back, so i can't get past the /same number/,

and this has been going on for several weeks, or maybe even a month or longer,

and, as i'm female, regarding water weight... my "time of the month" is about 2 weeks away... (and when that comes, that will make things even more difficult...)

i try different things, from, atkins meals, to eating nothing but tuna, or nothing but bacon, (kind of crazy, but i don't know what else to do!)

i am trying to work my way down to doing an egg fast (just eggs, limited cheese, butter), but last time i did that, i didn't even lose...

yesterday i ate just:

eggs,

w/ "clean" sausage, all recognizable ingredients/just spices),

few tablespoons of shredded cheese,

and a few tablespoons coconut oil -

i repeated JUST THESE COMPONENTS, for each of 3 meals...

today i gained .5 or 1lb...

i don't know if i'm eating too many carbs, i don't know if the cheese or some ingredient in the sausage could be the culprit -

...but i really feel like i need the cheese, OR sausage (at least one or the other), or SOME other component to add to the eggs,

because eating just plain eggs w/ a touch of cheese & butter can be really depressing!

i have been on plan for about 2.5 months... i recently read about post induction stall syndrome, and ...waiting for whooshes, but i don't know if, i am _doing the wrong thing with what i'm eating_

i am getting so discouraged, i'm considering eating something normal - not even going crazy, just one normal meal - to try to "shake things up" for my body??

or - i was considering a cheat day for _valentine's day_ which is a month away, and maybe i should hang in there and see if i still can't lose anything by then? but that feels like a long time, if i don't lose...

I did Atkins for a very long time without weightloss. I also worked out 3 hours a day. Even if I fasted 2 weeks I would lose 1lb. Finally I saw a specialist he told me to eat 1000cal and 10 carbs for a month. I didn't lose and he put me on a small amount of thyroid medication. It made all the difference in the world. I always thought thyroid was a bad excuse fat people use but its a real thing and a lot of people have it.

I don't think you're eating too many carbs at all. You can get tested yourself. About $100 at request a test.

There is great advice I think its yahoo group called reverse T3 and adrenals. They take questions and their very good. Stop the Thyroid Madness has good reading.

I think your body is telling you something is wrong here. Part of urinating is contolled by aldosterone which is made in the adrenal gland. Aldosterone controls water retention. Its very common to have both thyroid and adrenal problems.

http://www.drrind.com/therapies/met...mperature-graph all the groups I mentioned and my doctor use temperature as a guide so you can have a good idea in 4 days by following this guide.

dear nawchem,

THANKS for this super helpful info!

i had forgotten about thyroid issues ...in the past i had thought to order lab tests by mail, but in my state it is not allowed

...i will definitely look into this, and possibly see a doctor -

i especially want to say thank you for the ...solidarity, because, with the thyroid thing - AND working out,

i worked out LIKE A FIEND, in addition to the most disciplined dieting, and...

people would think i was exaggerating about how hard i was working out, how watchfully i was eating, etc -

sometimes a person really IS being as watchful and working as hard as they can......

i will update IF i find anything about my thyroid..........

At least you can do the thyroid temp test. Its also in the Atkins book. Its not only simple, free and a great indicator of your metabolism.

best!
