Question Advise and Tips appreciated

I am pretty new to this Low Carb diet and would appreciate any help or tips that you could supply.
I started yesterday after reading "eat fat, get thin" which is a very interesting read. My new eating habits sound as if they are going to be really cool, meat, cheese, butter and cream, sounds heavenly. Though at this stage I am a wee bit pessimistic. I am going to stick to the diet though and see how it works. Good Luck to anyone else who is just staring out!!

Talking Hi!

Welcome aboard, Shelbert!

As for advice and tips, you'll find more than enough on this site. To start, click on the 'tips' section on the red menu bar at the top of this screen.

If you don't want to buy them, borrow a couple of the low carb books from the library: Atkins's "New Diet Revolution" and the Eades's "Protein Power" are popular, and are easy plans to follow. Other books are available too. Arm yourself with knowledge.

And arm yourself with low carb food! If you can, give away or throw out the high-carb contents of your cupboards, so they won't be around to tempt you. Stock up on low-carb foods. Cook some meat and keep it in the fridge for snacking.

For recipie and cooking ideas, click on 'recipies,' above.

Read, read, read, online and off!

Rachel

Is that the Susan Somers book? Actually I heard it's quite good, but never read it myself. But reading more is always good.

Default Eat Fat, get thin

The book is actually by a British guy Barry Groves who, with his wife started a Low-carb diet nearly thirty years ago and seems to be still happy with it today. (Well two years ago when it was published).
I have been reading through a couple of the other folk's profiles on this site and see that most of them base their carb's on 20gm per day, but in my wee book it advises you to base your diet aroung 60gms a day. Am I looking at something wrong?

Hi Shelbert, I wouldn't say it's wrong, some people can lose on more than 60g per day based on their metabolism. As our bodies our different, different techniques work for different people, and experimenting helps you find the right one for you.

Hi Shelbert

Welcome. Guarantee lots of fun and support here.

How have your first few days been. That's when all the addictions come to the surface and try to persuade you to get even more pessimistic. If you resist those and firmly tell your body NOOOOO it gives up and adjusts. Cream and Butter make food taste sooo much better

I've lost 5kg eating better and more that I ever did before and feel GOOOOOOD.

Take care.
