I had heard of velveeta fudge before, but have never tried it.

I just wanted to point out something for those who were making faces at the idea of cheese in fudge. Iron Chef America is having a holiday cook off tonight with the secret ingredient being sugar. Paula Dean made processed cheese fudge and states she makes it every Christmas. So apparently it's not that far out, and even somewhat gourmet.

So what's up with the Velveeta fudge? Is it something different than the recipe above, and is it good?
Velveeta has more carbs than American cheese, that's my guess

Is there any way to make this with real cheese? Is that a stupid question? The carb count and the ease of preparation look so appealing.

I made it. I don't like it at all. My DH and DBIL love it though, so all is not lost.

Years ago when I worked in a deli , there was a company that made chocolate fudge from cheddar cheese. We only got it at christmas time. It was scarey sounding , but we just had to sample it.............it was really good.

all the regular recipes i've looked at call for either 32 ounces of powdered sugar or part powdered sugar, part powdered milk. i'm wondering what this is going to taste like missing such a large amount of the recipe.

I bought the ingredients for this. I'll give it a try - I've had chocolate cheese before and found it absolutely delicious! Does anybody know, is it Splenda that doesn't mix well with chocolate?

On another note, I was watching an episode of Iron Chef America and Paula Deen made a candy dish that started with Cheese Fudge. Apparently it's a family fave ... she started with processed cheese and made it into fudge. She then did some things to it that are decidedly NOT low carb.

I haven't made this in at least a year, but from what I remember, I don't like it. It tastes exactly like what it is: sweet and salty processed cheese with chocolate added.

Gypsy, yes. Splenda doesn't properly sweeten chocolate.
