Default Hiking and LCing!!!

I've just started back on my LCing and I'm very excited because my husband and I have been hiking for about a year now and I am excited to see what kind of results I will get with LCs.
For some reason walking alone (while great exercise) hurts my ankles and legs. I love hiking because I get to look at God's beautiful earth and share in nature while getting a great workout. And my ankles and legs don't hurt (maybe the hiking boots help). And talk about bonding with your sig other!!! Nothing is more romantic then sharing a picnic by a stream with the one you love. We have gotten much closer to eachother because we can talk and be together for a few hours a week. And my hubby didn't really want to go hiking. I drag him along and now he likes it. Perfect for romance. We also backpack (which is where we carry all our gear with us and camp out in the back country.)
I just pack a backpack with water, snacks, and emergancy gear (you never know if you'll need it) and head out. It is amazing. I really suggest you try this as a form of exercise to spice things up.
Any one else enjoy the great out doors as much as me??????

Does anyone know of any LC foods that pack well and can last a weekend???? I used to take jerky, but I believe that has lots of sugar. I need something that is fairly light weight and LC. I have a stove so I can cook. I live in AZ so it is pretty warm in the desert so I don't know how long perishables will last. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hey Amy ... you might want to check out the Kitchen threads on the forum and look for LC jerky recipes.

Otherwise ... I'm bumping this thread.

Oh and you might re-post your questions in the Kitchen thread ...
