Default Am afraid to eat raw eggs

Karen, need your help.
I'd like to make some egg nog this Christmas. Am concerned about using "raw" eggs, what can I do here.

Heat whatever liquid you are using to a boil, then beat into the eggs. Return the mixture to the saucepan and stirring it constantly with a rubber spatula over low heat, bring it to 160 F on an instant read thermometer. Have a large bowl of ice ready and place the pot in the ice, stirring frequently until cool, then refrigerate.
