Hi HK-Lowcarber,
10kg is a fantastic achievement, and I wish you luck in losing the next 5! Hitting a plateau seems pretty common, and the body seems to resist burning the last few kg of fat! Actually, I'm wondering what makes you feel you need to burn off another 5kg -- are you trying to get to a target BMI or body fat%, best-guess based on what you see in the mirror, etc? I know some people who are already slim but always feel they need to lose somemore!
You bet low carbing is definitely my WOE! After much reading, I am convinced by the science behind low carbing and believe that most people who are overweight due to metabolic syndrome + modern day (over)eating will likely succeed on low carb. Like many low carb converts, I am baffled by how resistant the mainstream is to low carb, including my family doctor. I'd never insist that it should be the right WOE for everyone, but LC should at least be accepted as a "legal" option for dieters and not immediately criticized by people who have never even taken the trouble to read the books or assimilate the logic/science/studies that support it.
For me, I started low carbing last Sept, did induction for 2 weeks (lost 5kg) followed by a very low carb OWL stage for 4 months (lost 10kg) where I hit my target weight, then tapered off to maintennance low carb (lost another 1kg) which I am maintaining till now. Next goal is to see if after one year my weight is still maintained!
