Diabetes type 2: Low-carb diet can ‘absolutely’ reverse condition and control blood sugar

DIABETES type 2 happens when the body can no longer control blood sugar levels due to problems with the hormone insulin. Although seeming like a life-sentence, it is ‘absolutely’ possible to reverse the condition with the low-carb diet according to an expert with more than 20 years experience.

“Absolutely, yes it can,” Dr David Cavan, author of Reverse Your Diabetes (type 2) and Reverse Your Diabetes Diet, told Express.co.uk today.

“The traditional advice for diabetes type 2 patients is to eat some carbohydrates with every meal.

“But more and more people are now recognising that, as all starch [carbohydrate] is converted to sugar, this can’t really help.
“Cutting out starch does make sense, which [diabetes type 2 sufferers] often do off their own back, as it can stop blood sugar levels being too high.”

A 2008 research study defined a low carbohydrate intake as under 130 grams a day, and a very-low intake as under 30 grams.
Published by the journal of Nutrition and Metabolism, the authors said experiments carried out in the study “reiterated that carbohydrate restriction improves all of the features of [heart disease and diabetes type 2]”.

Diabetes.co.uk, a website for people with the condition, said low-carbohydrate diets are “known for lowering the amount of insulin the body needs to produce, resulting in less insulin resistance”.

“Generally speaking, the lower your carbohydrate intake, the more likely you are to lose weight and the lower sugar levels you are likely to have,” they added online.

“It’s important you choose a level of carbohydrate that works well for you.”

When carbohydrates are taken into the body they are broken down into sugar, which can subsequently raise blood sugar levels.
Foods containing lots of carbohydrate include bread, potatoes, pasta and cereal among others.

“A low-carb diet can help you lose weight and control diabetes and other conditions,” said Healthline on its website.

“Some high-carb foods obviously need to be avoided, such as sugar-sweetened beverages, cake and candy.

“However, figuring out which staple foods to limit is more challenging.”

High carbohydrate fruits that it listed included bananas, 28 grams of raisins, two large dates, and pears.

“Berries are lower in sugar and higher in fibre than other fruits,” they added. “Therefore, small amounts (such as half a cup) can be enjoyed even on very low-carb diets.”

Foods that are low in carbohydrates include meat, fish and eggs.
Vegetables with few carbohydrates include spinach, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots.

Eating this food could help lower your blood sugar levels.

Follow the money trail of snack foods, breads, pasta, rice, potatoes which will all kill you but they make billions off of them.

I still remember when I was sent to the nutritionist and advised to eat graham crackers at snack time along with pb. Given the talk about dividing up the 300 carbs over 3 meals and 2 snacks......

Drove home and dropped all the take home material in the trash...... and picked up my DANDR instead.

That was 15 years ago.....why is this advice sooooooo slow to change??????

HOW DO WE CHANGE IT??
