Wink New and doubtful (of course!!)

Hi everyone! I'm new on the forum and old to LC! I'm 32 years old and have been on and off this WOE for years. Atkins sure does work for me even though I find it pretty tough...

I've finished reading the CAD diet, but it really sounds too good to be true ... is it?!?! From what I've been reading around on the forum it seems that CALP (which I haven't read) kind of limits the RM (which in the CAD book was pretty free). Can someone enlighten me please?

You sound like a really nice lot of people ... I hope to be able to help in turn ...

Smile Welcome!

Glad you found this site!

The main difference between CAD (which I still follow) and CALP is that in CALP the RM must be divided roughly into "thirds" with 1/3 being protein, 1/3 being veggie (LC) and the other 1/3 being carbs. It's actually not so different than CAD-which says your RM should be a "balanced feast", they just realized that they should define what that meant a little better.

I have lost weight on CAD-40 lbs several years ago and then kept it off until I stopped this WOE (duh!), so it has worked very well for me!

Good luck!

Default CALP vs Atkins

I think I got lucky in that I found the Hellers before I found Atkins. I am not sure I would have/could have stayed with Atkins and I might have brushed it off without giving it a chance.

See.... I went to the library one day.....and discovered Hellers books.......and then a couple of days later I went to the thrift store and lo and behold I found TWO shiny new CALP books for 25 cents each

It was kinda like having someone wave a big flag in front of my face.

Anyway....... give it a chance...... you might just really, really like it.

I guess you're right ... I've always been a bit of a "lose 2 pounds a day" freak, and if I don't I always feel as if I'm doing the wrong and go and eat!!!

I'll give it my best shot for a few weeks and if it doesn't work I'll go back to PP which i know does ...

I''m really not eating that much, so i can't really modify it all that much...

Thanks for your support
Ciao
