Question Pms-ferrous Sulfate

AKA: Iron supplements.

So I am a borderline low iron deficient anemic the last time I had my blood checked out, which was this past January.
They gave me pills(listed in the title), which helped immensely with my fatigue, and foggy brain, but they also made me hyper active, so I have stopped taking them.
I have also stopped taking them for the following reasons:
1) I can never remember TO take them.
2) There's so many chemicals in them
3) They upset my stomach a lot
4) I constantly have to explain to people what I'm taking and why

Now that I'm on a low carb diet, I'm hopping my iron levels will be better next time I go for a blood test, because I would really like to donate blood(I have O blood, not sure if positive or negative yet).

Does anyone else have this issue as well or a similar situation?

Do you continue to take iron pills on your low carb diet OR because of the diet do you, not need to take them anymore?

I'm wondering if I should go get some more from the doctor or just wait for my iron to rise naturally.

"1) I can never remember TO take them."
I have a box that's divided up into compartments for each day of the week. Once a week I fill it up with whatever supplements I'm taking and I have it out on the counter where I see it every morning. It's a habit now to open the correct day of the week and take what I need.

"3) They upset my stomach a lot"
It probably means you should take them with a meal.

"4) I constantly have to explain to people what I'm taking and why"
Why? I don't mean to be ignorant but this seems like your business. Why do you feel you have to explain it to anyone else?

=======

Anemia is nasty. Hopefully it will get better on a low carb diet but if not you should probably supplement.

Well reason I feel the need to explain to people, is that most people around me, know that I used to be involved in drugs. So when someone sees me taking my pills they ask if I'm doing drugs again. Which is quite annoying to know that people don't have faith in you.

Even with food they upset my stomach, my doctor told me to eat it with food, and I did but it didn't help for me.

Thanks for the suggest about the box thing, I'll look into that!

I used to get extremely ill and constipated when I took iron so I stopped. I read some negative things on Dr Eades blog about iron that convinced me to stop.

I have not had my iron checked lately, but I always used to have problems when i tried to give blood.
